Terms of Reference
Mandate: The steering committee will provide oversight and advise on the implementation of the
Global Health BA/BSc degree. It reports to the Dean through the Chair of the Committee. Specific areas of activity relate to:
Develop and implement an operational plan/timeline of required activities to ensure smooth program start up and flow of first few years;
Address required staffing – office staff, set up of program office, program coordinator and faculty complement as roll out occurs;
Collaborate with EO on budgetary requirements and oversee operational budget in start up and first years; oversee 5 year rolling budget
Implement and review interdisciplinary program governance structure
Receive recommendations from sub-committees for discussion and approval.
Membership: Chairs of all four units in Faculty of Health; Chair (normally, Associate Dean Global);
Program Coordinator- Global Health
Meetings: This committee will meet at least monthly and more frequently as required – beginning
March 2013

The Program Council is an open forum comprised of faculty from all units in the Faculty of Health, and other units on campus involved in the Global Health BA/BSc program. It reports to the Global Health
Steering Committee through the Program Coordinator.
Purpose:
Discussion and update of activities related to the program implementation.
Presentation of sub committee reports
Open discussion about logistics and teaching requirements for program implementation
Forum for consultation on revisions as needed, prior to Faculty Council

Membership: Faculty engaged in the program – teaching, administrative; Staff supporting program ( i.e. program assistant, executive officer, recruitment, communications); student representatives
Meetings: The Program Council will meet once per term throughout the academic year.

Reporting through the Program Coordinator to the GH Steering Committee, the Curriculum
Implementation Committee will:
Support discussions with faculty from the 4 Health units regarding curriculum implementation and logistics with specific focus on the first year (2014-15);
Provide oversight of curriculum development as required to support implementation of the new program;
Review curriculum and recommend approval to Global Health Steering Committee prior to review by the Faculty of Health Curriculum Committee.
Membership:
1 faculty member representative from each of 4 units (Health Policy & Management, Kinesiology
& Health Science, Nursing, Psychology)
