Unfortunately, health inequities continue to have serious consequences that threaten many vulnerable Oregonian’s quality of life. The Oregon Health Equity Alliance (OHEA) is a statewide partnership of diverse health equity advocates, public health entities, and organizations who serve constituents facing health inequities. Through a strategic merger with the HOPE Coalition in spring 2014, OHEA incorporates a special focus on the 4­county region of Clackamas, Marion, Multnomah, and Washington Counties. We seek to enact smart policies to improve our regional and statewide health and wellbeing through public policy, legislation, and policies that govern our workplaces, schools and communities. Our priorities are community­driven, focusing broadly on the social determinants of health. OHEA has an accomplished record of statewide policy wins in areas including cultural competency for health professionals, state data collection standards, and the traditional health workforce. More information is available at www.oregonhealthequity.org . Position Summary We seek a qualified candidate to serve as Coordinator for the Oregon Health Equity Alliance. This individual will work regularly with the OHEA Steering Committee (composed of 8 experienced advocacy organizations), as well as with a membership base of several dozen and an array of additional partners and supporters. OHEA works and convenes regularly as a full Membership, as a Steering Committee, as well as through Subcommittees focused on specific issue areas. The Coordinator will act centrally to facilitate effective communication, engagement, and decision­making for both the Membership and the Steering Committee, and will offer support in connecting work of the Subcommittees and OHEA Policy Director with the full Alliance. Work will predominantly be focused internally, but will also include regular communication and interaction with external partners through ally meetings and inquiries. As the dedicated central representative for OHEA, the Coordinator can expect to have a role in all areas of the Alliance, from communications and outreach to record keeping and fund development. This position is anticipated to start in October 2015, will be based in Portland, OR, housed and supervised at the Oregon Latino Health Coalition. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES General Coalition Coordination ● Serving as the primary point of contact, resource and information clearinghouse for OHEA activities, policy campaigns, people, and partnerships ● Managing, coordinating and documenting work plan with the Steering Committee and Subcommittees ● Responsible for logistics, coordinating and organizing the Steering Committee, Quarterly OHEA meetings ● Coordinating agenda building with Steering Committee & Chair(s), and note­taking for meetings Resource Development ● Coordinate involvement of Steering Committee ● Managing and coordinating record keeping and reporting on our work to members, Steering Committee and our funders OHEA Coordinator Job Announcement Updated: 8­31­15 Membership Development ● Maintaining and updating a current calendar of meetings and events ● Managing logistics for other regular OHEA meetings ● Facilitating outreaching and following up on relationship building with potential members ● Providing orientation for new members or representatives ● Managing annual renewal of members and survey interests Outreach & Communications ● Managing internal communications including central database and contact lists, website and social media. ● Maintaining regular communication with membership, including updates on work and invitations and reminders for events ● Coordinating external communications with Steering Committee, including producing presentations, visuals, and other materials ● Identifying and planning for special presentations, forums, and other public opportunities to engage stakeholders Required Qualifications ● Higher education degree and/or relevant experience ● Strong written and interpersonal communication skills ● Excellent organizational and record keeping skills ● Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholder organizations and leadership ● Strong facilitation skills ● Understanding of health equity, racial justice and the social determinants of health ● Significant experience working with people of color and community of color organizations ● Proven ability to work interdependently ● Proficient with technology including word processing, powerpoint, spreadsheets, social media ● Able to regularly use a computer/phone.
