The structure:
Central Gippsland Health Service (CGHS) is a
subregional health service and the major
provider of health and aged care services in the
Wellington Shire. We serve an immediate
population of approximately 42,000 in Central
Gippsland, and reach a wider community in East
Gippsland and parts of South Gippsland in terms
of more specialised services such as perinatal
services, critical care and surgery.
CGHS is unusual being both a sub-regional and
an integrated health service, providing a broad
range of primary, secondary and tertiary
services, including a comprehensive range of
HACC services, through to adult intensive,
coronary care and level 2 neonatal care.
Acute services include a full time emergency
department, critical care unit, neonatal critical
care unit, operating theatres, day procedure
unit, and oncology and dialysis services in
addition to general medical and surgical
services and subacute services including
rehabilitation.

MRI Radiographer
CGHS Medical Imaging Department provides
a wide range of imaging services including,
general x-ray, ultrasound, bone density
scanning, CT and nuclear medicine. MRI is also
provided onsite 2 days per week via a mobile
service. The department is very well equipped
and boasts a 64 Slice CT scanner and a new
gamma camera.
CGHS also operates medical imaging services
at Yarram and Fulham Correctional Centre.
The medical imaging unit earns over $4M in
revenue per annum and is an important
business unit within the health service.

Decision making / delegation
This position is at supervisor level and will have input into planning and decision making processes as part
of the service team. The position reports to (Manager-Medical Imaging) who holds a delegated authority
to the level of Department Head/Manager in accordance with “CGHS Instrument of Delegation”.
The work context:
The MRI Supervisor works in a multi-disciplinary team environment that requires the incumbent to interact
effectively within Medical Imaging and more broadly with staff from other departments in the health
services, external health professionals and agencies.
The purpose of the position:
Provide and interpret a range of Magnetic Resonance Imaging examinations for diagnosis and
management of medical conditions for patients/clients of the Medical Imaging department of Central
Gippsland Health Service and optimizing diagnostic quality whilst maintaining radiation safety.
This will occur within the principles of care coordination, where patients/clients/residents have access to a
highly coordinated health care and community support system.
The key responsibilities of the role:

Supervise effective day to day running of the Medical Imaging MRI Department.
Create and update MRI procedures as required.
Liaise with both Radiologists and Manager to produce effective Protocols for Clear, accurate and
safe Imaging
Manage resource acquisition and distribution of stock ordering
Report activities which inhibit effective operations of the Medical Imaging MRI Department to the
Manager, Medical Imaging in a timely manner
Support recruitment activities, supporting budget development and financial management, in
collaboration with the Manager.
Oversee and participate in the training of Medical Imaging staff and Students with respect to MRI
scanning and safety.
Lead a culture of excellence, ethical conduct and inter-disciplinary collaboration.
Promote excellence in customer service
Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate integrated personcentred care coordination leading to timely and effective client service provision.
Provide advocacy for clients/patients in regard to their identified goals.
Participate and provide a leadership role in relevant team meetings.
Facilities management – maximise the use of the physical spaces.
Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of strategic relationships with other departments,
other professionals and agencies.
Oversee and provide clear and concise documentation related to service delivery and
management.
Support data integrity which enables compliance with guidelines and relevant accountability
requirements including statistical data collection requirements.
Utilise the relevant range of information and communication technologies that support service
delivery.
Provide support and facilitation of learning opportunities to undergraduate students from all disciplines

Typical work schedule:
Monday to Friday, Minimum 24 hours per week .
Qualifications:




Hold a recognised undergraduate or post-graduate degree in a recognised Medical Imaging
qualification from a recognised Educational Institution.
Hold, or be eligible for registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
Hold, or be eligible for Radiation User Licence with the Victorian Department of Health
Hold, or be Eligible for Australian Institute Radiography(AIR) membership
Required experience / other (not covered by leadership and technical capabilities)




Have at least five years’ experience in Medical Imaging.
Have at least two years full time equivalent experience in MRI.
Experienced in customer service and person centered care.
Experience in providing timely response to client and patient demands.
