Journalists invited to a city rally with the amazing new Chevrolet Cruze
Reacquaints journalists with Cruze’s superior driving dynamics
New Cruze features upgrades and new technology to enhance interior luxury
BANGKOK, THAILAND – Chevrolet Sales Thailand recently invited a group of media to a
city rally in Bangkok, providing the journalists with the opportunity to enjoy the new Cruze’s
upgrades and new technologies. Recently launched with more contemporary styling cues
and a more luxurious interior, the event also reacquainted journalists with the sedan’s
superior driving dynamics.
Addressing the media before flag-off, Una Tan, Director, Marketing and Customer
Experience, Chevrolet Sales Thailand, said “The new Cruze is for real drivers like you.”
“It is for drivers who demand superior driving dynamics in a luxurious interior, perfect for
cruising the open roads as well as negotiating city traffic. It reaffirms the Cruze’s position as
Chevrolet’s best-selling global compact car,” Tan added.
The rally took journalists on a drive in and around Bangkok, with stops at strategic locations
for the journalists to perform special tasks and activities. Points were given for the activities,
and the team with most points will be the winner at the end of the event. Business partners
of Chevrolet’s ‘Chevy Plus’ program, including McDonald’s, Auntie Anne’s and Black
Canyon, also participated in the event. The rally route included highway and city driving,
underlining the Cruze’s capability to handle open roads as well as city traffic.
‘Chevy Plus’ is a part of Chevrolet’s ‘Complete Care’ program that aims to provide
customers with a more satisfying, worry-free ownership experience. It includes free or
discounted services from partners including Black Canyon Coffee, SF Cinema City,
McDonalds, Auntie Anne’s, Bangkok Airways, Thaiticket Major and more.
Chevrolet’s recently-launched Complete Care program is a global and comprehensive
aftersales program that provides a wide range of services, including:




Roadside assistance 24 hours
Warranty up to three years or 100,000 km for new Chevrolet users including
maintenance service by Chevrolet certified technicians
Chevrolet Mobile Service professional technicians on standby to fix and provide
counseling

To provide journalists with an opportunity to experience the Cruze’s versatility, the rally route
included highway and city driving, underlining the Cruze’s capability to handle open roads as
well as city traffic.
New design cues include a new dual-port front grille, daytime-running lights, new rear
bumper, Camaro-inspired taillights and new 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, one of the biggest
changes is the addition of a seven-inch color touchscreen infotainment system that comes
with Chevrolet’s MyLink. It features built-in App technology, enhanced voice control and
Bluetooth audio streaming. For a fresher look, the full-leather interior has also been
upgraded with a new color scheme called ‘Saddle Up’. Switches have also been rearranged
to make better ergonomic logic.
Under the bonnet, the new Cruze retains the proven ECOTEC 1.8L four-cylinder DOHC
(Double Overhead Camshafts), 16-valve featuring MPI (Multi-point Injection) and Double
CVC (Double Continuous Variable Cam Phasing), both of which work with the VIM (Variable
Intake Manifold) to optimize intake and exhaust settings across all engine speeds. This
improves performance, reduces waste and decreases impact on the environment.
The engine is rated at 141 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, with a maximum 177 Nm of torque at
3,800 rpm. The 1.8L ECOTEC is also E85-capable, making the latest Cruze an ‘FFV’
(Flex-Fuel Vehicle). This allows the Cruze to run on any form of gasoline, from pure
gasoline to those with up to 85 percent ethanol. In addition to cleaner emissions, an FFV
vehicle also offers customers with more fuel options across various price points.
Central to the Cruze's E85 capability is a recalibrated software and ECU (Electronic Control
Unit) to ensure the Cruze is able to run on anything from E0 (pure gasoline) to E85 (gasoline
with 85 percent ethanol). Along with various sensors, larger injectors and fuel delivery
system with a higher flow-rate, the Cruze's computer can detect the amount of ethanol
content in the fuel and adjust fuel flow-rates and ignition timing in real-time.
While the new Cruze has retained most of its technical systems, it features a second-generation
GF6 six-speed automatic transmission that is tuned for smoother gear-changes and quicker
response.
The new Cruze also comes with a host advanced technologies including the Passive
Entry Passive Start (PEPS) remote keyless entry system, electric power steering and
steering-mounted cruise and audio controls. It also features windshield wipers with
automatic control and auto headlamp function.
On the safety front, it comes with a list of active and passive safety features including front
and side airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake-Force
Distribution), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), traction control and safety key immobilizer.
Passive safety comes in the form of steel panels and side beams designed to resist
high-energy impacts.
Prices for the Cruze are THB 946,000 for the Cruze LT and THB 998,000 for the top-of-the-range
LTZ variant.
