Portfolio
Introduction lesson with the teacher covering basic subjects to
establish student level and areas for improvement. Subjects
include family, body, toys, games and animals, emotions,
sports, daily routine and student favourites.
Student and teacher build a rapport during this lesson.
Read about endangered
animals and the cause.
Look at pictures of habitats
being put at risk and
explaining what is happening.
Instead of only describing a
picture they tell you their
opinion and additional
information not shown in the
picture (endangered animals,
pets, cultures, countries etc)
Nationalities grammar practice
– match the flag to the person
and word.
Look at the food menu and
match the national food with a
nationality.
Read a letter from someone of
a different nationality
describing their family.
Correct any errors. Respond
to the person, prompt student
to ask questions.
Read about Frankenstein.
What organs did the doctor
need to make his monster?
Invent an animal, its habitat
and why it is at risk.
Choose a family picture and
write about where they come
from. Now compare that
family to your own.
Label places on a map with
the geographical names, and
put pictures of their famous
landmarks on the map
(England/Big Ben)
Find a penpal if possible within
the school or in another
country at the same level.
Make your own monster using
body parts from humans and
animals. Label a chart with
the parts and draw the animal.

poorly on, or based on teacher discretion is moved up to the
next assessment level.

works including muscles and
energy.
Read adverts for hotels in
different countries and match
them to the likes/dislikes of
people searching for a holiday.
Discuss with the teacher your
preferences.
Mystery Food. Roll the dice
on your activity sheet and
describe what the food has in
it (brain soup with monkey
eyeballs, it tastes like spicy
chicken!)
Write a holiday postcard
describing where you are and
what you have done.
Write crossword clues for the
new vocabulary learnt. It’s a
small room, it’s very hot and
it’s full of steam
Review lesson that focuses on student speaking time and
building their confidence.
This will be done with games and role play scenarios.
