(Project grade)
Every year, from September 15th to October 15th, Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated. This month is
dedicated to celebrating the culture, customs, and achievements of those with Spanish or Latin American
roots. We recognize the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to
the United States and celebrate their heritage and culture.
In honor of this month, you will research a famous Hispanic or Latino American and present your findings to the
class. This assignment will be due on October 15th, the end of Hispanic Heritage Month. We will present in class
on October 15th/16th.
The details of the assignment are as follows:
 Choose a famous Hispanic person to research - (refer to the list of names I have provided for some ideas).
You can also choose a person that is not on the list. However, you MUST get approval from me before
beginning your research. You may choose from artists, world leaders, musicians, actors, athletes…anyone
with Spanish or Latin American roots.
 Find the following information about that person -o
Name, Age
o
Country -- either the country he/she is from or where his/her descendants are from
o
Profession
o
A brief biography (details of his/her life)
o
Fun facts
o
You must turn in a hand-written copy of your research findings/facts/information. This will be in
paragraph form, neatly written. Title it with the name of your famous person, and include your
name, español 1, class period, and date (in Spanish!) on the top right
 Create a final product -- PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.
o
Requirements for final product:
Slide 1 – photo of your famous person, his/her name, where from, and his/her profession
(*Start your oral presentations like this: Mi persona famosa se llama…. Es de…..)
Slide 2 – Explain how he/she impacted that profession (what is his/her contribution to his/her
profession. (at least 4 bullet points) Include 2 pictures/photos
Slide 3 – a brief biography (at least 5 bullet points). Include 2 pictures/photos
Slide 4 – State at least 3 fun/interesting facts about your famous Hispanic person. Include 2
pictures/photos.
NOTE: If you email me your ppt, etc. you must include your first and last name and class period in the subject line.
