GROUP #1
will cover purchases of equipment for entities connecting to the state communications
network (KanWin) administered by the Division of Information Systems and Communications (DISC). All
orders under this group shall either be placed by DISC directly or approved by DISC before acceptance by the
Contractor. No other source for Cisco product shall be used for DISC-administered networks.
GROUP #2
will provide equipment and services to entities building or maintaining communications
networks not administered by DISC (i.e. KanRen, KanEd). Prior approval from DISC is not required for Group
#2 purchases.
Terms and conditions negotiated for State of Kansas Contract 10330 – Cisco Products and Services, as shown in
the award document, shall govern work orders issued by State of Kansas agencies under Group 2, and are not
negotiable.
Non-state users may have a need to negotiate minor terms and conditions relative to their local jurisdiction, but
significant changes to the language contained herein is not encouraged.
PLEASE NOTE: If a contractor fails to maintain the appropriate Cisco level recognition required for their
group (Gold or Silver), they shall be removed from that group. Should the Group #1 Contractor fail to
maintain GOLD-level standing, the State will re-bid or re-open Group #1. Loss of a single Group #2
Contractor may or may not cause the State, at its sole option, to re-bid or re-open Group #2. Re-bidding
or re-opening a Group shall not require the re-bidding or re-opening of any other Group. Further, the
State, at its sole option, may determine there are unmet needs that could be addressed by adding
Contractors to the existing Group #2 Contractor base, and re-bid or re-open Group #2 solely to add firms.

GROUP #1: KanWin Administered Networks
GROUP #1: The Contractor will provide all equipment to entities connecting to the state
communications networks (KanWin) administered by the Division of Information Systems and
Communications (DISC) unless first obtaining a waiver in writing from the Secretary of
Administration pursuant to K.S.A. 75-4709. All orders under this group shall either be placed by DISC
directly or approved by DISC before acceptance by the Contractor. No other source for Cisco product shall be used
for DISC-administered networks.
Waivers will be granted only upon a showing of good cause as determined by the Secretary or party duly
appointed to act in his place. All orders under this group may be placed by DISC directly or by the using
KanWin connected entity. No other source for Cisco product shall exist for DISC-administered networks.

3. Alexander Open Systems agrees to renew all existing State held SMARTNet contracts (KanWin),
based upon the discount structure identified above.
* To take advantage of Offer #3, the State must agree to renew all existing KanWin-based
SMARTNet contracts for a 36 month period.
As new special promotional offers become available, AOS shall partner with the State to take full
advantage. Any Cisco manufacture incentive cost will be passed along to the State of Kansas
at no additional cost.

 For the DISC network (DISC and all State agencies that attach to KanWin) and Non-DISC
networks (School Districts/Local Government (KanRen, KanEd) etc.)

Additional Incentives for the State of Kansas
1. AOS shall provide Senior Systems Engineering support to DISC at no additional charge. This
support shall include (1) Senior Systems Engineer on-site for no less than 6 months.
2. AOS shall conduct an IP Telephony assessment for the State of Kansas at no charge.
3. AOS shall conduct the following (5) 6-hour classes for the State:

2. Cisco Security Products
3. Cisco Wireless
4. Cisco Storage
5. Cisco IP Communications (Telephony)
4. If all State of Kansas agencies (connected to KanWin) agree to purchase all Cisco products
through Alexander Open Systems an additional six (6) months of SE time shall be available to all
other State agencies to be used only for projects purchased through Alexander Open Systems.
This time shall be allocated at DISC discretion.
5. All Systems Engineer time purchased by DISC through the end of 2008 shall be discounted
$10.00 per hour from the lowest rate (which is the "Platinum Tier" column) of the appropriate skill
level stated on the current AOS Rate Sheet.
6. After the end of 2008, all Systems Engineer time purchased by DISC shall be discounted $10.00

Acceptance and Conditions of Engagement
1. Technical service provided 8am to 5pm; Mon-Fri CST is billed in 15-minute increments based upon
the service skill level with a two hour minimum.
2. Help Desk phone support provided 8am to 5pm, Mon-Fri CST is billed in 15-minute increments.
$100.00 per hour ($25.00 for 15 minutes).
3. Travel billed one-way at the skill level rate.
4. Evenings and weekends at 150% of standard or contracted rate with a two hour minimum.
5. Emergency support at 150% of standard or contracted rate with a two hour minimum.
6. Holidays at 200% of standard or contracted rate with a two hour minimum billing.
7. Cancellation fee of $200 for less than 24-hours notice.
8. Project based technical services may be quoted on either an hourly or “flat” (fixed fee) basis.
9. Full payment for flat rate technical services is due upon completion and hourly technical services
and/or extended projects are invoiced weekly as performed.
10. Reasonable travel, lodging and per diem expenses will be added for overnight engagements.
11. AOS offers a short term warehouse storage service for customers. Our fees for this service are as
follows: $.33 per $1,000 of product (at selling price) per week. Minimum weekly charge $50.00.
Example: If a client stores $200,000 of gear for 1 week. The charge is $66 plus shipping fee (based
on what we are charge by freight company) from the warehouse to the client site.
