Halloween Parade

10/30/15 9:45 AM

Schools Close 3 hours early

10/30/15

From the Administration:

Halloween…

Halloween will be celebrated at Ilchester with a parade and class celebrations on

October 30. The parade will begin around 9:45 a.m. The parent viewing areas will be in the front of the school all the way around to our blacktop area. We will have cones and signs to identify these areas. The children will be traveling out the front of the school and will parade on the sidewalk and around to the blacktop. They will re-enter the school through the gym doors. We have over 700 wonderful students so it is a long parade and at times there may be gaps in the line. After the parade concludes we will ask our parents who are assisting or visiting in their child’s classroom celebration to wait ten minutes before entering the school. This will allow our students time to travel back to their classrooms.

Remember to stop in the front office to sign in and to get a visitor’s badge. We realize that some families do not celebrate Halloween. Please let your child's teacher know if you prefer for your child not to participate in the

Halloween activities. An alternative activity will be provided. Students may choose to wear their costume to school or you may send it in a sturdy bag on this day and remember that the costume will be worn over school clothes. Costumes may not include toy weapons, even as costume accessories.

We are always happy to see many parents and guests at our Halloween celebration. Please be reminded that finding a place to park can be challenging on this day. Spaces may be available in the lot behind Bonnie

Branch Middle School. We also are fortunate to have parking available at Camp Ilchester. It is crucial that we do not use the nine spaces in front of the camp store, as those are reserved for customers. We also ask that all parents and guests take notice of the "no parking" signs posted on either side of our driveway. The bus loop will

be "no parking" zone beginning at 12:00 PM to allow for a smooth dismissal for students at Bonnie Branch

Middle. Also, please be courteous to our neighbors and do not park on private lawns. Thank you!

The Weather is changing…

These cooler nights and days have clearly let us know that fall is here! At this time of year, it is often difficult to decide how to dress for the weather. We will be going out to recess as much as possible, so please help us by having your child dress for the weather each day. A coat/jacket can help make recess more comfortable for our students. Thank you for your help.

Noteworthy Music News:

We want to congratulate our ten students that auditioned for the Howard County Children's Chorus Lyric Choir this year. Out of about two hundred and fifty fourth and fifth graders, we were allowed to send ten to audition. Being selected for this honor means that these students have

Cheetah Chatter

October 2, 2015 outstanding voices and work ethic. Out of the ten students that were chosen to audition, the following seven students made it in. We feel so fortunate to have so many students make it. Many of the schools have just one or two students representing the school. We do have very talented students that work so hard. Congratulations to the following HCCC choristers:

Ben Alpert

Michael Duffy

Kaitlyn Green

Marisa Hill

Hana Larkins

Paige Sims

Poppy Swallow

Special congratulations go to Paige Sims, who was also in HCCC last year.

Monday nights. They are an indispensable group to music teachers and students in the county. Each school is supposed to have 2 representatives. We have been unable to find a parent representative for Ilchester the last four years, despite our efforts each year to get one. Please help us make sure that Ilchester has a voice in the county's music department.
