RESPONSIBILITY
Reviewing protocols, animal care and use programs, and University animal facilities to ensure compliance with Federal standards and regulatory requirements.

TASKS
Improving the health care for animal species used as pets, evaluating new drug therapies, and understanding the mechanisms of diseases that afflict humans and animals.
Providing excellent care for animals used in research, to gain the maximum amount of information from every animal used, and to minimize procedures that have potential for discomfort, distress, or pain.

The timely review of all research protocols whether exempt or non-exempt, whether funded or nonfunded.

Research (RCR) and other activities involving human participants.
Assisting researchers whether the protocols are funded or non-funded and conducting continuing education of our membership.
Safeguarding human participants with regards to risk vs. benefits.
