Sofitel Saigon Plaza has announced it will unveil its newly renovated rooms and suites
collection designed by renowned French interior designer, Pierre Maciag, on 30 January
2013. Embodying French elegance, Sofitel Saigon Plaza’s revamped rooms and suites
collection is set to represent a new benchmark for luxury hotels and resorts in the region.
Situated in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, the hotel offers travellers ideal access to the city’s
deluxe shopping venues, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Reunification Palace and other tourist
attractions. Fusing traditional Vietnamese elements with contemporary French décor, the
hotel’s new rooms and suites design exudes a sophisticated elegance. The interior
furnishings and textures are connected in a luxurious and sophisticated style to create an
intimate atmosphere captivating all the senses.
“With the completion of our newly renovated rooms and suites, we look forward to providing
guests with even better service and comfort, giving them the “Magnifique” experience
Sofitel is famous for. Besides the advantage of our ideal location in the heart of Saigon’s
central business district, now we are very proud of thorough renovation which now puts us
in a different league from other hotels in the vicinity,” said Bertrand Courtois, General
Manager of Sofitel Saigon Plaza.
With a fully remodelled living space, the new interior design boasts a graceful blend of
traditional and contemporary, promising a fusion of modernity, elegance and comfort for
each unique experience. Showcasing floor-to-ceiling windows that offer panoramic views
of the city and the Saigon River, each room seeks to create an intimate ambience with its
natural lighting. For a majestic feel, each room boasts a timeless planter chair of colonial
inspiration painted with lacquer, using famous local techniques, while retaining a modern
appearance. Complementing the design are bird cages situated at the corner of each room,
alluding guests to an ancient Vietnamese symbol of happiness and prosperity.
“The shared heritage between France and Vietnam was the core inspiration for my design.
We have selected strong, exotic elements from both the French and Vietnamese cultures
and incorporated them to enhance the visual impact and identity in every room and suite,”
said Pierre Maciag.
“The interior décor at Sofitel Saigon Plaza’s rooms echoes traditional Vietnamese
characteristics with a touch of classic French-style elegance. Each room and suite is a
unique and serene living space where the past and present come together to meet the
future”, added Maciag.
The interior décor reveals a mix of conventional, classic colours and highlights the room’s
distinctive feature with a more contemporary, timeless aesthetic, a distinctive characteristic
of Pierre Maciag’s work. Luxury Club rooms are decked in vibrant orange, while the
Prestige Suites feature colour palates of Vietnamese paintings, using shades like neutral
grey, dark grey and green jade. To emphasize French influences, Luxury and Superior
room colours were inspired by the vast acres of beautiful Lavender fields in Provence,
France.
The Sofitel MyBed™ experience is the highlight of the bedroom, now enhanced with a
pillow menu. The pillows sit snugly between two bedside tables – one decorated with
lacquer ware with an eggshell finish, and the other is equipped with a multi-purpose
concept for guest convenience. The French “Salle de Bien” atmosphere within the hotel is
enhanced when guests enter the room’s spacious bathroom, furnished with a rainforest
shower, a stylish Italian Renaissance-design bathtub in the Prestige Suites, complete with
lavish Hermes bathroom amenities to enhance the experience. For the perfect final touch,
guests are treated to a large walk-in closet.
Finally, the mini-bar concept is an interpretation of traditional “dim sum” steam baskets,
reflecting Chinese influences in the design. The in-room features also include an Illy
espresso machine, and a large assortment of snacks and drinks. Other entertainment
offerings include a 40’ inch flat screen television offering international channels, a DVD
player, and high-speed internet access in all rooms.
