Key Function
To conduct archaeological heritage surveys, manage Knowledge Partnerships
projects, provide heritage advice to native title claimant groups and act as liaison to
between claimant groups and YMAC.
Position Responsibilities
HERITAGE MATTERS AND PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Undertake Heritage Surveys and prepare Heritage Survey Reports in accordance
with YMAC policies and procedures and the requirements of relevant Aboriginal
Heritage Legislation.

Lead and train in-house Archaeologists as required.

Under direction of the Heritage Services Manager, assist with the development of
strategic relationships with external parties.

Manage the relationships between YMAC’s clients and stakeholders to develop
effective relationships with all parties.

Identifying new projects, opportunities and partnerships by facilitating discussions
with relevant stakeholders and/or attending relevant conferences and workshops

Develop and submit grant applications with the assistance of both internal and
external stakeholders
ADVICE AND PROJECT COORDINATION

Under the supervision of the Heritage Services Manager advise the organisation on
Aboriginal heritage issues.

Provide advice on the native title group issues and propose strategies for resolution.

Working with YMAC’s clients and other stakeholders in implementing a diverse
program of cultural resource management activities

Ensuring that cultural resource management projects are delivered on time, to budget
and to the required quality standard

Managing the relationships between YMAC’s clients and stakeholders

Provide accurate and timely project activity reports as directed by the DRH through
the HSM and as set out in project funding agreements

Provide accurate and timely project finance reports with the assistance of the Finance
department as directed by the DRH through the HSM and as set out in project funding
agreements

Managing the work of project consultants as directed

Contributing to the development and dissemination of education, awareness-raising
and publicity materials
BUDGETING


Providing the DRH through the HSM and Finance Department with a project brief
and the necessary information for a project budget to be created for new and
existing projects
Informing the DRH through the HSM and Finance Department when financial activity
and project auditing is required to be completed
FUNDING AGREEMENT AND CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

Providing the DRH through the HSM with a project brief to enable a contract and/or
funding agreement to be drawn up and executed

Ensuring contract and/or funding agreement deliverables and timeframes are
adhered to
REPORTING

Provide regular written reports on the progress of Knowledge Partnership issues as
directed.

Prepare written and verbal reports on Knowledge Partnership matters, external
relationships and other activities as required.
OTHER
 As required, under the general direction of the Director of Research and Heritage
undertake research to serve as evidence for native title claims and other actions
under the Native Title Act 1993, in accordance with the Western Australian
Government Connection Guidelines.

YMAC including IT, vehicles, equipment and related items

Experience
 Tertiary Qualifications in Archaeology, with Honours




