PART C: OIL SANDS MINING MEGA MAP ACTIVITY
Use the mega maps provided by your teacher to complete this part of the worksheet.
1. Examine the mega map and create your own graphic organizer that identifies the five main
steps involved with oil sand mining.
2. Using the visuals and written information on the back of the map, identify the environmental
impacts that oil sand mining has on the land, water and air. You may present this information
using your own format.
3. Using the map, identify as many jobs as possible that relate to oil sand mining.
4. Describe the overall impression you get from the mega map. For example, is it a positive or
negative representation of oil sand mining? What might explain your findings?
