Complaints and Grievances
By Students
While students have the responsibility to abide by Board policies and administrative regulations
of Eastern Suffolk BOCES, they shall also be afforded opportunity to present complaints and
grievances free from interference, coercion, restraint, discrimination or reprisal. Administration
shall be responsible for:
1. establishing rules and regulations for the redress of complaints or grievances through
proper administration channels;
2. developing an appeals process;
3. ensuring that students have full understanding and access to these Regulations and
procedure; and
4. providing prompt and equitable consideration and determination of student complaints
and grievances.
Civil Rights Compliance Officers
Students and parents/guardians will receive annual notification of the ESBOCES-established
complaint procedures for resolving complaints of discrimination based on sex, disability, race,
color, weight, gender, gender identity, gender expression, creed, national origin, political
affiliation, sexual orientation, age, or marital status. This notice shall include the names,
addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of the Title IX/Section 504/ADA
Compliance Officers.
