You should fill out the number of lunches that you are purchasing and how much money you would like to place into your child’s a la carte account. The a la carte account is used for milk, breakfast, or snack items. If you have any questions regarding your child’s lunch account, please call the school and talk to Mrs. Brown, the head cook. She can generate reports which will reflect your child’s spending history and current amount of money in their account. Also you may want to consider using the on line system the district offers to pay for lunches. This program offers you a convenient way to pay your child’s fees and manage their meal account over the internet. It is called PayForIT. Net. To learn more check the Plain Local website. On October 4 third grade students will be taking the Ohio Achievement Assessment. Here are some tips that can help your child do his/her best work. Have your child go to bed early. Students will do their best if they are rested each day. Make sure your child wakes up early, so they do not feel rushed. Encourage your child to have a good breakfast. Remind your child to do his/her best work and take his/her time to read carefully. Encourage your child to answer questions completely and to write or print neatly. Counselors, Corner Kyra Manderine October’s Theme: “Respecting Others” During Morning Welcome this month, Mr. Mohn and I will be concentrating specifically on encouraging our students to be caring, honest, and fair. I also plan to visit each classroom to present a classroom guidance lesson, which will also emphasize the importance of cooperation and teamwork. LET’S BE A BUCKET FILLING SCHOOL! This week, I visited each classroom and introduced the concept of being “bucket fillers”. The idea of being “bucket fillers” is based on the book "Have You Filled A Bucket Today? (A Guide to Daily Happiness For Kids)" by Carol McCloud. The premise of the book is this... We all carry an invisible bucket that contains our feelings. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When our bucket is empty, we feel sad. A “bucket filler” is someone who says or does nice things for other people. By doing this, they are filling other people's buckets and filling their own bucket at the same time. On the other hand, a bucket dipper says or does things to cause other people to feel bad. A bucket dipper empties their bucket when they say and do mean things. This program will be implemented, school-wide, as a visual and hands on approach to teaching and promoting RESPECT. **Please Remember** As a school counselor, I am able to advocate for all students and help assist administrators, staff, teachers and families. I look forward to working together to help our students learn and develop. Please feel free to contact me anytime!
