Inspect Equipment with Operators Manual & Safety inspection sheets. 1 a. Personal injuries from stepping out of vehicle 1 a. Ensure stepping handles and steps attached to vehicle are used if available. Use nonslip shoes. b. Crushed and pinched fingers from opening and closing vehicle. b. Ensure all body parts are out of the way prior to closing vehicle doors. c. Back injury from bending to check vehicle wheels and tires and from reaching to check fluids. c. Attend back injury awareness training. d. Physical reactions from contact with vehicle fluids. d. Wear proper PPE as prescribed by MSDS/SDS. Ensure a Fire extinguisher is close by e. Cuts and abrasions from sharp objects on vehicle. e. Wear gloves and use protective garments when working near sharp objects. f. Electrical shock from the battery and wires on the vehicle. f. Training on electrical hazards wear proper PPE. 2 a. Accident: Vehicle, Traffic, Equipment, Road Hazard, Personal and Pedestrian injuries, sudden stops and rapid accelerations. 2 a. Obey all safety regulations. Practice safe driving. Be alert; watch traffic and use of seat belts. Drive defensively. Ensure equipment is being used as designed and operated as instructed in operators manual. b. Physical injuries from vegetation, uneven ground, and from flying debris. Operator / bystanders running into or being struck by objects b. Be observant of your surroundings, both; objects and personnel at all times during equipment usage. Ensure no one is in the path of equipment while operating. Ensure equipment safety items are in place and use equipment safety features, i.e. Ensure the seat belt is operational and wear it during operations. Wear proper PPE while operating equipment. c. Physical injuries from prolonged sitting on equipment. Strain, eye, neck, muscles, carpal tunnel, back problems from Repetitive Strain Injury or Cumulative Trauma Disorder c.
