POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator Position Status: Part Time – 22.5 hours per week 1 POSITION CONTEXT Perth Region NRM Inc. is the leading regional group for natural resource management in the Perth area of Western Australia. As an independent not‐for‐profit organisation, we work with the community to improve the environment and sustainable land management practices. The Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering both Aboriginal and environmental stakeholder engagement activities that support Perth Region NRM’s Cultural Heritage program. The Cultural Heritage program is focused on preserving the karlup (home or heart country) and the traditional knowledge of the Noongar people through education, understanding, and active Aboriginal involvement in NRM management. The collation and preservation of kaartdijin (cultural knowledge); in particular, traditional cultural knowledge is an important focus of our Cultural Heritage program. We work closely with local Aboriginal groups within the Swan Region to encourage participation and involvement in NRM activities that we deliver. The position requires skills and experience in Aboriginal engagement, managing meetings and events and managing and measuring project outcomes. It requires a high level of understanding of Aboriginal culture and excellent communication and time management skills. 2 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 2.1 Stakeholder Engagement 2.1.1 Provide advice to, and support stakeholders in the effective engagement of Aboriginal people in their work. 2.1.2 Deliver workshops and other activities that create awareness and support of Aboriginal cultural values. 2.1.3 Support local community groups to understand more about cultural heritage values in the areas they are working. 2.1.4 Support Aboriginal people to fully engage in managing the natural resources in regard to cultural heritage sites. 2.1.5 Liaise with the local Noongar community to encourage their participation in on-ground works. 2.1.6 Liaise with other organisations to identify collaborative Aboriginal engagement opportunities, particularly relating to workshops and events, management plans and supporting on-ground works. 2.1.7 Some work outside of business hours (but within the working hours of the position) is required to accommodate meetings and events from time to time. Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator Page 1 of 3 POSITION DESCRIPTION 2.2 Project Delivery 2.2.1 Coordinate workshops or forums, including researching prices, venues or materials, making bookings or arranging purchases, preparing and sending invitations, flyers or other materials and following up on completion of related tasks 2.2.2 Assist with preparing communications such as articles, newsletters or website content to promote workshops and events. 2.2.3 Support the collection and collation of monitoring, evaluation and reporting data for PRNRM’s Cultural Heritage Program, to the reporting standard required by the Australian Government and other investors. 2.3 Relationships 2.3.1 Foster and develop relationships and innovative project partnerships between community, industry groups, agencies and local government responsible for Aboriginal engagement and/or NRM. 2.3.2 Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive Perth Region NRM team environment. 2.3.3 Represent the organisation at meetings or events related to the role and position as required. 2.3.4 Act as Perth Region NRM’s representative on designated third party NRM steering, reference and/or advisory committees as required. 2.4 Organisation and Systems 3 2.4.1 Attend internal meetings as required and contribute to and seek opportunities for cross program collaboration. 2.4.2 Comply with internal reporting requirements in relation to the position. 2.4.3 Adhere to and demonstrate a positive commitment to Perth Region NRM policies and procedures. 2.4.4 Other duties as required. ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Cultural Heritage Program Manager Supervises: NIL Liaises with: All Staff, stakeholders Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator Page 2 of 3 POSITION DESCRIPTION 4 WORK CAPABILITIES 4.1 Selection Criteria 4.1.1 Tertiary qualifications or progression towards such qualifications in relevant field and/or an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and considerable experience in stakeholder engagement. 4.1.2 Demonstrated experience in the development and management of stakeholder engagement in natural resource management and/or Aboriginal cultural values. 4.1.3 Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare for and deliver meetings, workshops, training or other events 4.1.4 High level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills 4.1.5 Strong organisational and time management skills 4.1.6 Proficiency in common office software and computer use 4.1.7 A current drivers licence Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator Page 3 of 3
