ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH

POSITION: Full-time faculty position, tenure track
STARTING DATE: July 2016
RANK/COMPENSATION: Assistant Professor; salary commensurate with qualifications, experience, and faculty salary scale
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach wide range of undergraduate literature courses, including an introductory
British literature course each year
Teach an Inquiry Seminar for first year students annually.
Assist students as advisor in academic and career planning.
Maintain research program or otherwise pursue professional achievement beyond teaching and community service.
Perform normal responsibilities of a faculty member at a liberal arts college, including student recruitment and departmental activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in hand or completed by July 1, 2016
Research expertise in medieval or the long eighteenth-century preferred
Preparation and willingness to teach both semesters of a British literature survey
Experience in a critical/theoretical methodology preferred
Interest in and enthusiasm for a liberal arts undergraduate experience
Capacity to contribute to Linfield’s and the English Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion
Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduates in a face-to-face setting
Capacity for service addressing the needs of a small department and the college community
