Rebuttal
 Statement of response to points made by
opposing side (counter arguments)
 Each side will then be allowed to ask up
to three questions of its opponent
(choose carefully).
 Each side will be allotted one additional
follow-up question.

allotted time.

Note that these students will need to pay close attention
during the debate and will have to think on the fly! Notes
should be prepared in advance in anticipation of the other
side’s possible arguments. Your typed notes will include
what you THINK the other side will say, and you will have
writing on the notes you hand in from taking notes on the
other team during the debate.

your side.
 Should reinforce or clarify points made or
questions answered rather than introduce
new information.
 Shows that thesis has been proven and
why the other side is wrong

10 points: Research Notes and Outline
Each person is required to submit typed notes for your section of the debate with citations of the documents
and resources given to you in this unit only (no outside research will be permitted). While I understand that

original work. Note that your total grade will be based on both your group’s performance and your individual
effort.
