1. Background of Wenyu River catchment
Wenyu River is the mother river located at the northeast of Beijing. As a river flowing through the
northern and eastern regions of Beijing, with a high density of residential areas and industries, the
Wenyu River is the ultimate receiving waste water in this urban area. The length of main stream is
about 47.5km, and the entire catchment area is about 2478 square kilometers. Three main tributaries
of Wenyu River catchment contains Beisha River, Dongsha River, Nansha River, which of them flow
into Shahe Reservoir. At the downstream of Wenyu River catchment, there are Ninggou River, Qing
River, Ba River and other small tributaries. Annual average temperature is about 11.6℃ and the
average monthly rainfall is 619 mm in this catchment. More than 80% of the annual rainfall is from
the summer flood season. At the same time, Wenyu river catchment combined with the urbanization
area of Beijing, which land types contain urban and rural residents area, industrial land area, forest
area and others. The catchment was impacted by human activities. According to the survey, sewage
treatment plant water volume is about 892300 m3/d, which flow into main streams and tributaries of
this catchment. The type of the wastewater contains industrial and household wastewater. Current
monitoring studies have indicated the general occurrence of NP, BPA, estrogen, and other EDCs in
the river catchment.

4. The information of the nonylphenol
Nonylphenol in this paper apply to a lot of isomeric compounds of the general formula
C6H4(OH)C9H19. Two ways can be considered about nonylphenol isomers, and one is the substitution
position of the nonyl group on the phenol molecule, the other is the degree of branching of the nonyl
group.
