We invite applications for the position of Specially Appointed Assistant Professor in
Laboratory of Laboratory Animal Science and Medicine, Graduate School of Veterinary
Medicine, Hokkaido University. We seek individuals who can enhance the research and
education capabilities of Hokkaido University Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine.

Specially Appointed Assistant Professor (Tokunin-Jokyo)
This position is specially appointed by the Program for Leading Graduate School
“Fostering Global Leaders in Veterinary Science for contributing to One Health,”
supported by a grant from Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology of Japan (http://www.vetmed.hokudai.ac.jp/onehealth/).
2. Term of office
Appointed Assistant Professor: one-year renewable contract up to the end of the
Program for Leading Graduate School mentioned above (The program will terminate
in FY2017).
3. Job description
1) Education, research, and other activities related to the Graduate School of
Veterinary Medicine and undergraduate School of Veterinary Medicine.
2) Graduate courses: Advanced Ethics in the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals
(shared), Research on Veterinary Science (shared), Advanced Seminar on
Veterinary Science (shared), and others.
3) Undergraduate courses: Veterinary Genetics (shared), Diseases of Laboratory
Animals (shared), Laboratory Practice in Laboratory Animal Science (shared),
Tutorial Research (shared), Seminar in Research and Clinics (shared), and others.
4) Laboratory animal care in the Animal Facility (Our institution is accredited by the
AAALAC International.)
4. Qualification
1) Applicant should have achievements and publications in the field of laboratory
animal science and medicine.
2) Applicant should be highly motivated in the research and the education of laboratory
animal science and medicine in the graduate and undergraduate courses.
3) Applicant has to hold the Ph.D. degree or has to have scientific capacity equivalent
to Ph.D. holders.

2) List of publications
3) Statement of research activities to the present (up to 2 pages in English)
4) A concise summary of the candidate’s perspective on education and research in the
area of laboratory animal science and medicine (up to 2 pages in English)
5) Each reprint or photocopy of three major publications
6) List of research and education grants
