A DAY OF RENEWAL – on Saturday 5 th September at Aylesford Priory. This is

organised by Maidstone Charismatic Prayer and Praise group and has been

going for 20 years. It is a beautiful and joyful day and everyone is welcome.

It starts with the Rosary at 9.30am, after which there are periods of prayer,

praise and an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The

speaker is Derek Williams who will also lead a Healing service at 2.00pm. The

day concludes with a Mass of Thanksgiving at 4.00pm celebrated by Fr. Mark

White, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Herne Bay.

ARCHBISHOP PETER – has written to Fr. Roy with regard to the forthcoming Private Member’s Bill to legalise assisted suicide.

On Friday 11 th September the House of Commons will debate and vote on a

Bill to legalise assisted suicide. This will put the most vulnerable people in our society at risk. Please contact your MP, urging them to attend the debate and vote against the Bill. You can send an e-mail to your MP via the Catholic

Bishops’ Conference website ( www.catholicnews.org.uk/assisted-suicide ) or send a letter by post, a draft of which can be obtained from Fr.

ST FRANCIS PARISH – have serious problems with their church roof and are

appealing for financial assistance. If you would like to help, details of their

“buy a tile for £5” are available in the church porch.

 MUSIC – The choir have a break for August so our music liturgy will be

led by guitar. We are trying out some new music – we hope you like it.

DEANERY DAY OF REFLECTION – This is a day for readers and extraordinary

ministers and has been provisionally booked for 24 th October at Bearsted

and 16 th April 2016 at Tenterden. It is a condition of your ministry that you

should attend at least one of these days each year. You can, of course,

attend both! Further details to follow.

 HEADCORN – There will be a meeting for Readers from St. Thomas of

Canterbury, Headcorn after Mass on 23 rd August in the upper room. All

Readers are urged to attend please!

HOLY FAMILY SCHOOL – officially opened on 5 th September 1965. Our Parish

School therefore celebrates 50 years this year – it’s GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY!

There will be a 50 th Golden Anniversary Mass on Wednesday 21 st October and

Archbishop Peter will be the principal celebrant. More details to follow.

PARISH COFFEE MORNINGS –Do come and join us on the first Thursday of every month after 9.30 Mass. It’s an ideal opportunity to catch up with fellow parishioners in a pleasant, social environment. Next one is 3 rd September.

CHURCH CLEANING – Copies of the new cleaning rota are available in the church porch. Thank you to those few people who keep the church clean.
