Rules of Participation
1) The date of the show is May 17th and will take place at 8pm in the Folsom Room of the Hilton
Arden West 2200 Harvard St. Sacramento, Ca. 95815
2) All teams are to be present at 6:30 pm in order to draw numbers for order of performance and
conduct walk-thru on stage
3) Any behavior or performance (by a team or any member of that team) that the OPPDM reasonably
believes will disrupt the normal functions of OPPDM; threaten persons or property; and/or has or
is reasonably expected to result in physical or verbal violence or intimidating conduct will not be
tolerated and may result in point reduction, disqualification, removal from competition or other
penalty. Performances, which contain indecent or obscene language, props and/or attire (ex.
taking off shirt), will be subject to point reduction, disqualification or other penalty.
4) No fire or pyrotechnics may be used in a performance
5) Undergraduate, graduate and mixed teams (comprised of undergraduates and or graduates who are
currently financially active and recognized by their respective sorority or fraternity) are eligible to
compete
6) Each team will have a total of 10 minutes to perform; this includes both the introduction and exit
steps/strolls. A total of five (5) points will be deducted from the score of each team that exceeds
the 10-minute allotment. This deduction will be assessed by the Time/Score Keeper only once per
team
7) Each team must have all music cued on one CD. A sound coordinator should be assigned to
instruct the sound person as to when music is needed during the show.
8) No props that take longer than 2 min. to set up will be allowed.
9) All members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Step Teams Must be Financial and registered at the
OPPDM.
10) The decision of the judges is final. In the event of a tie, then the teams with the tie scores will have
the highest and lowest scores tabulated for their final score
11) The Fraternity will not be held responsible for the actions of the contestants
12) The Step Team represents by the signature below that they are authorized to enter into this
performance agreement
13) The Step Team represents by the signature below that they grant the OPPDM the rights to use
their image for use in video production and promotional materials related to the OPPDM. By
granting permission, participating individuals release OPPDM from all liability
14) There will be a maximum of 8 step teams
15) Minimum of 3 members per Step Team
16) The Step Team assumes all risk in its performance of all activities authorized by this agreement
and is responsible for all actions whatsoever committed by your team that may cause harm or
injury to persons or property
By the signature below, the authorized Step Show representative acknowledges receipt of the rules above
regarding participation in the OPPDM Step show. Furthermore, the signature reflects that the party(ies),
understands and agrees to abide by the rules contained herein.
