MAY TERM 2015 TRAVEL COURSE INFORMATION Proposed course listing and title: POLI 208 California Politics, Sacramento Style No pre-requisites required Offered by: Renee Van Vechten, Dept. of Political Science Office information: HOL 316 Date course begins: April 27th on campus; ends May 21st Course fee: $350 Course fee includes flight to and from Sacramento, hotel/accommodations for 4 nights 3 days in Sacramento, (excursion dates: May 11-14) transportation to scheduled events, and some meals, such as breakfast at Sacramento hotel, group dinner one night. Please note: Itinerary is subject to change. Anticipated expenses beyond course fee borne by each student: Meals & Entertainment in Sacramento; independent transportation during “free time.” Course enrollment limit: 16 Pre-requisites (if any): None_ Course features/short description: California politics: everywhere present, and yet seemingly distant. This “hybrid” course will introduce students to one of the world’s largest political systems from the inside out. Classes and guest lectures will take place on campus for the first and second week. The third week will be spent exploring the state’s capital, Sacramento, meeting with alumni who work in and around the legislature, judiciary, and executive branches. The last three days of the course will be spent on campus.
