PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTORS WANTED: LAWN MOWING SERVICES
The Code Enforcement and Public Health Division of the City of Brooklyn Park is currently accepting submissions
for professional contractors to perform long grass and noxious weed abatements. The scope of the required
work includes mowing, bagging, trimming, and disposing of long grass/noxious weeds and the occasional
removal of brush/branches that impede mowing. Contractors must be prepared to complete a large volume of
abatement jobs in a timely manner, be able to handle abatements consisting of extremely long grass/weeds
(over 2 feet), and be capable of mowing uneven/ungraded lots having steep slopes.
Compensation
Contractors will be paid $50.00 per man-hour for onsite abatement labor, plus reimbursement for additional
charges for dump fees and/or any special equipment needed (e.g. brush hog). The contractor will be
compensated a minimum of one man-hour per abatement job. The hourly compensation rate is non-negotiable.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Insurance: State law requires 1.5 million per incident and three (3) million aggregate. The City of Brooklyn
Park must also be listed as additional insured. Workers comp may be required. Proof of insurance on
vehicles and equipment is required.
2. The contractor must have the equipment and skills needed for cutting, bagging, and properly disposing of
exceptionally long grass/weeds. Contractor must also be able to move and dispose of brush/branches that
impede the ability to mow. The minimum equipment required includes one (1) riding mower with a 42 inch
(or larger) mowing deck and bagging capability, one (1) push mower, and one (1) weed whip.
3. The contractor will be required to complete all jobs within three (3) days of notification.
4. The contractor will be required to submit “before” and “after” digital photographs with date and time
stamps for all abatement jobs.
5. The contractor will be required to submit invoices within seven (7) days on a form provided by the city. (A
sample invoice is attached for review).
