Labex CEBA Annual Call for Proposals 2015 – Call for Proposals – Laboratoire d’Excellence Centre d’Etude de la Biodiversite Amazonienne 2015 1. Introduction The CEntre for the study of Biodiversity in Amazonia (CEBA) is a Laboratory of Excellence based in French Guiana aimed at fostering knowledge on terrestrial biodiversity in Amazonia. CEBA contributes to coordinate research capacity in France on the topic of Amazonian terrestrial biodiversity, and to reinforce collaborations with South American and other international partners. Details are available at http://www.labex-ceba.fr The Labex CEBA opens an annual competitive call for proposals to encourage innovative research on biodiversity in French Guiana (http://www.labex-ceba.fr/en/science). Projects will be evaluated by the Scientific Board (see appendix) and by external referees, if needed. 2. Submission guidelines The proposed research must fit within the scientific scope of CEBA (http://www.labexceba.fr/en/science) Funding should not exceed 20,000€ per project. Projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2015, a report will be produced in 2016. For projects involving one of the CEBA partners, or projects led by a member of one of the research institutions affiliated to CEBA, equipment, functioning, travel and per diem costs are eligible, but not salary. For projects not involving one of the CEBA partners, including non-French institutions, the funds will be managed by CEBA and may include only travel and per diem costs. The file should be submitted as a single file in PDF format. Evaluation criteria The first and foremost criterion is the scientific quality and novelty of the project. Projects should demonstrate a clear coherence with the scientific objectives of CEBA (http://www.labex-ceba.fr/en/science/) 4. Submission schedule Projects must be submitted before 23 January 2015 The evaluation will take place in February 2015 and the decision will be communicated as soon as possible. The funds will be available soon thereafter for the funded projects. The duration of the project is one year. A second year of funding is contingent on a resubmission and a justification of the achievements in year 1. A scientific report will be sent to CEBA by the end of the project, with a brief financial report.
