Classroom Innovation Teacher Grants The Classroom Innovation Teacher Grants Program gives Richland One teachers an opportunity to develop innovative educational projects to enhance the learning experience of their students. It gives teachers a resource for expanding and enhancing the curriculum for the benefit of students in early childhood through 12th grade. GRANT CRITERIA & ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for a $500 Classroom Innovation Teacher Grant, you must be teaching child development through 12th grade in Richland One. An individual teacher or teacher teams may submit grant proposals. The proposals must be submitted by the person(s) who will implement the project. Multiple proposals will be accepted, but individual teachers or teacher teams are eligible to receive only one $500 grant per semester. Grant recipients must use the grant to implement the educational program described in your application by the end of the academic year in which the grant award is made and submit a follow-up report detailing the use of grant dollars as well as an evaluation of the project. The Classroom Innovation Teacher Grants will be awarded as funds permit. GRANT PROJECTS SHOULD: Improve and enhance a classroom’s academic environment. Be implemented in the same academic year in which it is awarded. Encourage creative experiences for students. Be standards-based. Complement major goals of the district. Be endorsed by the principal of the applicant’s school. Each section of the grant application will be reviewed by the following criteria (100 possible points total): 1. Teaching Assignment Description (5 points) Teaching assignment is clearly described to include class, grade level and ability levels of students 2. Grant Project Description (10 points) Grant project is clearly described to give a brief overview of the proposal 3A. Instructional Goals (15 points) The extent to which the goals are measurable The extent to which specific gaps or weaknesses have been identified and will be addressed by the project 3B. Standards Addressed (15 points) The extent to which the goals are clearly linked to South Carolina Standards 3C. Methods (15 points) The extent to which the project is based on current research The extent to which the project utilizes effective practice The extent to which the project is innovative 3D. Timeline (10 points) The extent to which the project plan is adequate to achieve goals on time, within budget, and has a clearly defined timetable. 4. How would the grant funds assist your project (15 points) The extent to which expenses are detailed and justified in the project plan. 5. Evaluation (15 points) The extent to which the methods of evaluation includes the use of objective performance measures that are related to the outcomes of the project.
