PIP Stakeholder Event EVALUATION RESULTS I have been able to communicate my experience and learn from others about how the claims and assessment process for PIP is working on the ground, the problems that exist and also what is working well. 80 60 40 20 0 Series1 1 2 3 4 5 0 2 4 69 28 I now have a better understanding about what steps are being taken to address known issues 100 50 0 Series1 1 2 3 4 5 0 2 7 77 17 I now have a better understanding about the parameters for change and who to contact when things go wrong 100 50 0 Series1 1 2 3 4 5 0 15 20 64 4 I have been able to contribute to developing proposals that I believe will lead to improved outcomes for clients 70 Percentage 60 50 40 30 20 10 0 Series1 1 2 3 4 5 0 9 21 65 8 Response I feel that the event has helped build a positive sense of partnership among all stakeholders Percentage 80 60 40 20 0 Series1 1 2 3 4 5 2 2 7 69 23 Response Any further comments or suggestions? 1. Good to hear DWP, Atos and others say there are problems and trying to make it better. DWP needs to commit to making information into easy-read if they want better uptake and involvement from people. Yes conference please. Talking directly to DWP Manager was great. 2. The photographer was intrusive and very distracting. I also do not recall anyone asking for my permission to be photographed. 3. Good selection of speakers – interesting to hear the Tribunal Judge’s perspective. 4. Microphones did not always work well / speakers did not always use them effectively. Would welcome a repeat event in e.g. 1 year’s time, but would be better if was an all day (e.g. 10-4) event as felt time-pressured today and people were coming from a wide area. 5. Sadly, not enough time to discuss all issues properly. ½ day is not enough time. 6. Thanks for organising an excellent event. Coped with over-run from speakers very well! Attendance suggests that more events of this nature would be popular. 7. I think that there are too many people present to enable people to contribute in a way that’s both accurate and positive! Discussion forums were perhaps the most useful, but also the speaker’s responses to the points made. Thank you for an interesting and informative afternoon. 8. Really good and useful thank you for organising it. 9. Useful event and there should be more. Contact details to be given of speakers so they can be contacted if needed. 10.An event like this is valuable in the sense of getting Gov depts etc together to listen to the views of the welfare rights world. Thank you. 11.Good event but would have liked more opportunity to ask questions. 12.I found this event very useful in giving me a more rounded picture of PIP. I found last section most useful. 13.My only suggestion would be that perhaps the meeting could’ve been aimed at two different levels of info for people. One of the colleagues suggested having a whole day next year. If this was the case, then a.m. could be PIP at a basic level. Some of the info that was shared in the p.m. for me was a little over my head. 14.Would like Atos contact details to escalate claims that have been waiting a long time. 15.Really useful informative event thank you Equal Lives for organising it. Having Atos, Capita and DWP on hand to address questions, concerns. 16.These meetings are useful and I would like to see more if this is possible. Networking and exchange of information is vital. 17.An excellent event – very informative and good speakers. A morning event would be appreciated. Particularly enjoyed Haqeeq Bostan – Capita, and Graham Cooper – Ministry of Justice. 18.It is very good to be able to speak openly with stakeholders and share information. The MOST useful contribution was from the Judge. I would have liked to hear more from him and if we could get a whole afternoon with him that would really be practically useful. 19.Not enough time. 20.Would have loved more time to question the excellent panel. Enjoyable and well organised event, thank you. 21.Air conditioning was noisy! Lots of strong opinions and facilitator wasn’t able to control group discussion. 22.A worthwhile afternoon, thank you. Please do organise a further event in future. Very useful not only to hear from other professionals but also to be reassured that others are experiencing very similar issues. 23.Very useful and necessary. Most useful – Tribunal Judge’s comments on descriptors, Atos/Capita’s info on home assessments. 24.Fantastic opportunity to explore areas for concern around PIP. Fantastic to have input from all key partners. Thank you. I found the whole afternoon useful – I know this sounds [?] but it really has all been valuable. 25.Very positive and constructive approach – very grateful to DWP/Judge/providers for attending. Do run more events – maybe a whole day would be too long in this format. 26.I think the discussion group exercise wasn’t explained clearly enough. Think it should have been explained better as I wasn’t 100% sure what the discussion was about – thought we were gaining more information, not raising the problems and concerns. I particularly found the speakers at the beginning helpful and informative. 27.Would be useful to have a full day, an afternoon felt crammed. The speakers and presentations were extremely useful though. 28.Useful for raising concerns but advisers’ experiences did not seem to coincide with what the ‘experts’ believed was happening. 29.Overall I have found from my experiences that DWP correspondence is confusing, contradictory and far too lengthy. Even as an adviser I want to rip my hair out, so how vulnerable clients are expected to cope is unbelievable. Whatever happened to PLAIN ENGLISH? Today was very useful. The second part about concerns, cause and effect etc, was certainly the best part. Yes, a day long would have been good and maybe do in 2015. 30.Venue feedback – slamming door, very squeaky floorboards and a photographer who kept getting in the way of the slides! Not the end of the world, but very distracting when some of the speakers spoke quietly and there were also pillars obscuring views. Otherwise, a bold conference really well held together! 31.Very well organised…it gave everyone a good opportunity to contribute to the proceedings. It may have been useful to have slightly more time for Q&A sessions but would we have got more of the same from certain individuals? I am not sure that I fully understood the reason for the delays in the system and I hope what they say about speeding this up is true. However, I suspect that this will lead to more wrong decisions. Simon Dawson seemed very approachable and he did ask our table for ways that we can support those with a MH condition, in particular. It would be interesting to see whether his response matches his enthusiasm for getting things right. A good opportunity to meet with those at the grass roots on both sides, which is always constructive. Well done! 32.I found the session very useful especially the presentation by DWP and the local district Judge. However, I felt that Atos representative did not really have a full understanding of what is happening on the ground and the lack of specialist knowledge within Atos and the accessibility of it. Atos doesn’t seem to understand that claimants don’t make complaints as they feel that this will have a detrimental effect on the outcome of their claim. 33.It was a very good day and I can’t think of anything that would have made it any better. 34.Thanks for a very good day. I found it really interesting especially the 2nd part. 35.Brilliant event! Tribunal Judge’s contribution was very useful and I would like to hear someone in his position talk for longer about descriptors and points. Also, for me, it was useful to hear that I should be demanding a home visit for the ATOS/Capita assessment, if the claimant has a mental health problem.
