Please take time with your child and discuss which activities they would like to sign up for. Then, fill in this form with your child’s choices, sign it and send it back to the classroom teacher to get registered. Please tell us your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices for each day’s activities to help us get everyone signed up. Sign-up is on a first come, first served basis and your child may or may not get their first choice. In order to inform all parties involved, the registration period will end on August 19, 2013. Do you find the news fascinating and would like to write about QISS? The Lower School Newsletter is looking for students who are inquisitive and know the right questions to ask in order to write great informative articles. If you like writing, and are curious, the Lower School Newsletter is the activity for you! This is a permanent club for the year. This activity will teach you to solve the Rubik's cube. This spring at QISS there will be a middle school Rubik's Cube ACAMIS tournament where students will complete against other schools in a Rubik's Cube Challenge. In this club we will learn all about Rubik's Cubes, and everyone will learn to solve a 3x3 cube. Half time will be devoted to singing in Choir and another half of the time students will be learning how to play recorders and learn different folk songs and popular tunes. Come and learn problem solving skills and how to think like a mathematician. Participate in five problem solving contests, where our team is ranked against those teams throughout the world that also partake of the Olympiad. Students will be asked to decide if they will make a year long commitment after the very first session. The number remains fixed after that. Those who join the Olympiad will be representing QISS at the ACAMIS Math Olympiad and Rubik's Cube Tournament to be held here at school in February 2.014.
