Dear QISS Parents and Students,
We are excited to offer you the following after school activities (ASAP) for Session 1. Please take time with your child
and discuss which activities they would like to sign up for. Then, fill in this form with your child’s choices, sign it and
send it back to the classroom teacher to get registered. Please tell us your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices for each day’s
activities to help us get everyone signed up. Sign-up is on a first come, first served basis and your child may or may not
get their first choice. In order to inform all parties involved, the registration period will end on August 19, 2013.

Name of Activity: Super Fun Board and Word Games
Did you ever dream of being a reporter? Do you find the news
fascinating and would like to write about QISS? The Lower
School Newsletter is looking for students who are inquisitive and
know the right questions to ask in order to write great
informative articles. If you like writing, and are curious, the
Lower School Newsletter is the activity for you! This is a
permanent club for the year.

Come and have fun learning and playing board and word games.
We will play old and new games. Sometimes they will be easy
sometimes they will be hard but they will always be interesting.
Learn new vocabulary and English expressions while you are
having fun.

Name of Activity: Rubik's Cube Challenge
Have you ever felt baffled by the Rubik's Cube? Would you like
to learn to solve it? This activity will teach you to solve the
Rubik's cube. This spring at QISS there will be a middle school
Rubik's Cube ACAMIS tournament where students will complete
against other schools in a Rubik's Cube Challenge. In this club
we will learn all about Rubik's Cubes, and everyone will learn to
solve a 3x3 cube.

Name of Activity: Choir and Recorder Club
Description and short catchy blurb: “Musical Sharks Club”
Students in the grade 3-5 have the opportunity to join the
elementary school Choir / Recorder Club. Half time will be
devoted to singing in Choir and another half of the time students
will be learning how to play recorders and learn different folk
songs and popular tunes. Music Sharks Club will be performing
in the Winter Concert in December in our school.

art and have fun too.

Name of Activity: Rock/Jazz/Vocal Combo
So you want to be a rock 'n roll star? Or maybe sing the blues? If
you can sing, play the guitar, piano, bass, drums or any wind
instrument, then this is the group for you. Students should have a
basic proficiency on their instrument to join this group.

Name of Activity: Tennis Time!
Come out and join me, Mr. Trent, on the tennis courts beginning
this August for some fantastically fun times! We will cover all
the basics to put you on track to becoming a super star on the
tennis court as well as the classroom. I can't wait to meet you!

Name of Activity: Math Olympiads
Do you love math? Come and learn problem solving skills and
how to think like a mathematician. Participate in five problem
solving contests, where our team is ranked against those teams
throughout the world that also partake of the Olympiad. Students
will be asked to decide if they will make a year long commitment
after the very first session. The number remains fixed after that.
Those who join the Olympiad will be representing QISS at the
ACAMIS Math Olympiad and Rubik's Cube Tournament to be
held here at school in February 2.014.

explore a diverse range of media including painting, drawing,

Students in the grade 1-2 grades have the opportunity to join the

playing simple percussion instruments , and creative movement

Note: If your child signs up for Math Olympiads and the Lower School Newsletter Clubs in session 1, they still need to
go to the same club during session 2 and 3 because it is a year-long activity.
If your child signs up for Rubik’s Cube, they must attend during session 1 and 2 in preparation for the ACAMIS
competition in February.
