And where do I find them? How much will it cost? Parents are responsible for purchasing books and materials for courses, including lab materials. For our literature and history courses utilizing whole books, we recommend that parents consider the public library or used book sites. Some of our history and literature books are available for free as e-books. You can find book lists for courses on the course description page of each. If a text is use, as in the cases of Science and Math, there is a link on the course description page on the CBB website to the publisher. However, parents may actually purchase curriculum from whatever source they choose, as long as they acquire the correct edition. Spanish classes include e-texts written by the instructor or parents may purchase the hardcover on the instructor’s website. Lab Courses How do labs work in an online format? Teachers walk students through each step of the lab, while students participate on their end. Students may take labs as “observation only,” depending on state requirements, but it will be noted on their course credit form that they only observed the labs. The teachers can demonstrate each step using their cameras. We currently use this format very successfully. Will my child still need all the supplies at home and do the experiment? Your child will need the equipment and supplies for science labs, but Apologia offers kits at a reasonable price and focuses on labs that are easier to do at home. Classes by Beth LLC 2015
