PhD studentship Royal College of Nursing Research Institute Division of Health Sciences, Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick Project: Fatigue and Ankylosing Spondylitis: improving patient outcomes. This PhD studentship and associated programme of work is funded by a competitive research grant awarded by the National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society (NASS). The project fits with the NASS research priorities: AS-fatigue is poorly understood and patient’s health needs are under-represented. The proposed three-year research programme will focus on exploring patients’ lived experience of AS-fatigue and improving fatigue assessment. The result will be of critical value to routine practice, research, and disease registries where enhanced, patient-centred exploration of what really matters to patients with AS-fatigue is required. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and expanding research team at the RCN Research Institute at University of Warwick within the multi-disciplinary Division of Health Sciences in Warwick Medical School. The studentship is an exciting collaboration with the Staffordshire Rheumatology Centre. The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr Kirstie Haywood, Senior Research Fellow in Patient Reported Outcomes and Dr Jon Packham, Consultant Rheumatologist (Staffordshire Rheumatology Centre). The successful candidate will be expected to start in early October 2015 and will be located at Warwick Medical School.
