Frequently Asked Questions:
What is HUDL? How do parents access it?
HUDL is a program that the coaches use to communicate with the players. Parents do not get a HUDL
account. If you want to see what is in HUDL, you must have your player show you how to use it and give
you his login.
HUDL is also where varsity film will be loaded. Varsity players can use HUDL to make highlight reels.
Film is not taken (or loaded) for Freshman or JV, which is why the Gridiron Club is seeking volunteers to
take photos and video (although note, even if someone takes it, it will not be loaded to HUDL). We are
hoping for a parent volunteer to prepare a montage that can be given out to the Freshman and JV
players at the end of the season. If you are a F or JV parent interested in doing this, please contact Lisa
Wolowacki (Wolowacki@comcast.net)
I heard that there are Thursday night pasta dinners. Who attends these? Is there a cost? When do
they start?
Every Thursday night before a varsity game there is a team pasta dinner. Everyone who has been told
that they will dress for the varsity games (JV and V) is welcome to attend the pasta dinner and there is
no cost. This is a player/coaches only event. Coach Sidwell will advise the players of time and location.
I heard there is a party after every varsity game? Who attends these? Is there a cost?
There is a party after every varsity game regardless of whether the game is home or away. Typically the
party is hosted by a senior parent of a player or cheerleader. The parties are paid for by the host
families, there is no cost to players. Most often, multiple families will sponsor a single party, although it
will only be at one house. Everyone who dresses for the varsity games (JV and V players) is welcome to
attend the party. The schedule was sent out via email.
I want to help support the program. How can I volunteer? What can I do?
There are many opportunities to help! If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact
John McKenzie or Matt Gordon (currandrew@verizon.net or aandmgordon@comcast.net)

Freshman parents are asked to work at the varsity home games helping with concessions and
soft good sales.
We are still in need of a Freshman or Sophomore parent to pick up all the food before home
games at BBC/Longhorn/Papa Ginos
We need a “team parent” to help coordinate activities for JV and Freshman. These teams may
want to hold their own events, as they have games on different days than varsity
We need a photographer and videographer for JV and F. (not mandatory, but it would be nice
to have pictures and video to give the boys at the end of the season)
We need a senior parent to help coordinate the “memory book”
I want to know more about what’s going on. How do I stay better connected?
Aside from joining the Facebook group and watching the gridiron website, the best thing you can do it
ATTEND A MEETING! The gridiron club will be hosting meetings to discuss ideas and opportunities, and
to seek volunteers for new activities. Please consider coming! Meetings will held intermittently ahead
of upcoming events or activities. Dates and times will be announced via email and on the website and
on the Facebook page. There are also a number of twitter accounts you can follow. Coach Sidwell,
Liane and Trainer Jen often tweet. Here are the accounts to follow:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Franklin Athletics - @FHSSports
FHS Strength and Conditioning - @FHSStrength
FHS Football - @FHSFAN
FHS Training Room - @FHSTrainingRoom
Some coaches also have twitter accounts. Players will receive that information from the coaches who
use this method of communication.
I saw some of the amazing soft goods you had for sale. How can I buy some if I didn’t purchase them
at the 8/23 meeting?
Soft goods will be sold at every varsity home game. Unfortunately, you cannot buy them online. All
sales are cash/check and carry (there will be inventory at the games)
How do I get team-specific updates?
The coaches each choose to communicate in different ways. Primarily they will communicate to the
players. Most varsity communication will take place through HUDL. You must ask your player to keep
you informed!! Some coaches will use twitter, others will email. It depends on the coach. Your player
should be able to find that out from the coach.
I see that the schedule is posted. Is it final?
The schedule is as final as it can be. It is not unusual for a game to change date/time or venue at the last
minute. Weather / field conditions can be a contributing factor to this. When that happens, the coaches
typically communicate to the players.
I heard the players need to dress up at school on game days?
Each team will have their own guidelines around this. Players should receive direction from their coach
as we get closer to the first game. It is not unusual however, for players to be expected to wear a shirt
and tie to school on a game day.
What is the gridiron club website? How do I find the facebook group?
The website is www. Franklinfootballgridiron.com
On facebook, search Franklin Football Alumni and Gridiron Club, click “join”
My son plays JV. Is it true he has his own games but has to be dressed, on the field, and ready to play
at every Varsity game as well?
Those who play on the Freshman team do not dress for the varsity games, however everyone in the
program is encouraged to attend and support the team and attend the games. Selected JV players will
be asked to dress for some of the varsity games.
I have another question I’d like you to add to this FAQ. How do I do that?
Go to the website to the “blog” tab. Enter your question there and we will add it to this document!
