BACKGROUND
By the year 2025, more than 83% of the world population (8.5 billion) will be living in the developing world that will enormously increase demand for food supply. However, agricultural, environmental and macroeconomic policies and planning priorities of the developing world are inadequate to create conditions for meeting the demands of the growing population. The food and other commodities required by the growing population at time of rapidly changing climate and globalization can be met only through more flexible, knowledge based and sustainable increase of agricultural production, better infrastructures and marketing systems.
Furthermore, adjusting priorities and policies to improve agriculture production will also ensure economic growth and poverty reduction.
This conference is organized to create an opportunity for discussing the use of innovative technologies for agricultural development, climate change and its impacts on agriculture, depletion of natural resources, planning priorities and the policy decisions to make the agricultural production systems both environmentally healthy and productive.
