LOS ANGELES – July 16, 2014 – Industry leaders from the world’s entertainment
superpowers are set to attend the U.S. China Film & TV Industry (UCFTI) Expo,
September 15-16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. With support from the Mayor’s
Film Czar, Ken Ziffren, advisor Sid Ganis and U.S. Congressman Ed Royce, the
inaugural Expo will serve as a platform for major players from the U.S. and China to
leverage their respective successes and network for future partnerships.
“Hosting our two worlds’ entertainment dignitaries and key players under one roof will
be enlightening to say the least,” said Bianca Chen, CEO of the UCFTI Expo. “In the
midst of the current changes in Hollywood, and China’s exponential industry growth,
now is the perfect time and the Expo is the perfect place for the collaboration of great
minds.”
Major industry players are confirmed to speak at the Expo, including representatives
from Relativity, The Weinstein Company, Legendary Films, Sony Pictures, NBC
Universal, Technicolor and entertainment attorneys from O’Melveny & Myers LLP. Other
participants include former managing director of Sony Pictures China Barbara Robinson
and partner of Mayer Brown LLP and former Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg.
Also in attendance will be more than 800 Chinese dignitaries from a variety of influential
organizations including Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film & TV,

China real estate associations. Chinese producers, writers and talent will also be in
attendance, including three time Golden Horse award-winning actress Lisa Lu, and
writer, director and television producer Zheng Xiaolong.
“Our goal is for the Expo to foster deeper relationships and bridge the gap between the
U.S. and China, as they are the powers that will shape the future of film and TV,” said
Chen.
Building upon the reputation of U.S. and China as the two largest entertainment markets
in the world, Expo panels will cover co-productions, distribution, film financing, deal
making in China, capitalization and equity, the foreign film quota, technology and postproduction, investment conditions and trends, and most importantly the overarching
cultural divide, and strategic communications to maneuver the business norms of each
country.

U.S. China Film & TV Industry Expo
Q&A
What is the goal of the UCFTI Expo?
We are at the point of exponential growth for China’s film and television industry – which
makes this a key moment for U.S. and Chinese industry leaders to educate each other
about opportunities in their respective markets. The UCFTI Expo will allow exhibitors
and attendees to gain access and insights to China’s film and television industry,
encouraging collaboration with creative and business leaders/partners.
When and where is the UCFTI Expo?
The UCFTI Expo is taking place September 15 and 16, 2014, at the Los Angeles
Convention Center (West Hall).
Why is this event important now?
In 2013, China became the second largest movie market by total box office sales with
overall ticket revenues topping $3.3 billion. Additionally, we are in a key moment for
growth and job creation in Hollywood. The UCFTI Expo connects U.S. and Chinese
industry leaders to get their foot in the door and learn about China’s booming film and
television industry. Helping Hollywood navigate filming in China can only benefit the
U.S. economy. Furthermore, this Expo allows industry leaders to explore new financing
avenues, injecting money into Hollywood.
How is this event different from other industry-centric shows such as NAB and
CineGear?
The UCFTI Expo is the only conference that brings together U.S. and Chinese leaders
to educate on the opportunities and joint partnerships in these two major markets. In
fact, half of the exhibitors will be American while the other half will be from China.
The Expo will provide insights and job opportunities through understanding the complex
processes in the film and television industries in both nations – from permitting, coproductions and financing to end distribution.
Additionally, the Expo is giving exhibitors access to a whole new market for sales. Many
of them have not explored China as a potential new revenue stream due to lack of
relationships and/or knowledge base. This is the perfect opportunity for them to
potentially increase sales and develop brand awareness further.
Will there be an educational component to the Expo such as seminars or panels?
If so, what topics will be addressed?
Attendees will have access to a number of panels held throughout the Expo covering
topics such as:
• China and U.S. film and television development
• Project financing
