This is a special session. Dr. O’Neill was honored recently by publishing his research in a special issue of The

Gender role conflict (GRC) is defined as a psychological state in which socialized gender roles have negative
consequences for the person or others. GRC exists when rigid, sexist, or restrictive gender roles result in restrictions,
devaluations, or violation of others or self. A 25 year old research summary of over 233 empirical studies (O'Neil, 2008)
will be presented and its implications for boys and men will be discussed in the context of education and male
psychological problems.
