The curriculum is very hard, but will prepare you for going into the medical or scientific field. The professors work with you in order to find your strengths and work through any weaknesses. Because of the intensity of the program there is a unique bond with many of the students. Most of my friends came from my major. The facilities are out dated, but most science facilities are. There were not very many internship opportunities, though there are a few.” CN "Almost everything has already been answered. But there are many activities; we have a huge gym, a movie theatre, dining halls, a nice library, shopping areas downtown, great transportation, great sports, and a great supply of safety. Also, the students are really friendly. I am currently in Cultural Ambassadors, so we are in charge of supplying cultural events. We have many. Also at our performance arena, there are many cultural events that take place as well.” CN “As soon as someone says something about a possible safety concern, a staff in the school will immediately send out mass emails to everyone and project an announcement through speakers. Campus crime is not very likely considering that there are always cops and civilians around to be on the lookout. Overall I feel very safe on campus.” CN “Campus crime is very low. There have been a few break-ins off campus, but nothing serious on campus. I feel safe walking around at night, but usually prefer to have someone with me just in case. There are the blue emergency lights to press if something does happen. Tiger Transit is also useful if you are uncomfortable walking.” CN “They push the drug safety pretty hard on students. They just want everyone to be safe and know what they are doing. Students know they shouldn't drink underage, but if they do, they just want the students to be safe. We have an alcohol edu that all incoming freshmen have to participate in. If a student is caught abusing alcohol/drugs underage, then they have to pay the consequences.” CN 7226 Jardiniere Court Charlotte, NC 28226 lee@collegeadmissionsstrategies.com 704-907-5685 www.collegeadmissionsstrategies.com What I don’t like about this College: “It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 16,931, its setting is suburban, and the campus size is 17,000 acres” PR “out-of-state tuition and fees are $30,816 “ PR “The students at Clemson do not all apply themselves as much as they should. The university offers numerous resources for success but because a majority of the students are from South Carolina, a state struggling with academic achievement, they do not understand the concept of trying in school. It is frustrating to work alongside some of the much unmotivated students here and that is one of the main reasons I have chosen to transfer.” CN “ I would feel better about the academic system is the stress was put less on how good my GPA was and put more towards allowing me to gain the education that will send me the farthest in life.” CN “other than partying at night there is absolutely nothing to do in Clemson, the "downtown" area is a tiny strip of shops (mostly restaurants) and then that’s it for places to go or things to do, outside of campus it’s kind of gross” CN “Clemson itself is a town revolving around the University. The few people that choose to reside in the town are not very well off and so it is rare for students to interact with the locals. The "downtown" portion of Clemson is really just a singular street lined with subpar restaurants and a few expensive clothing stores. Outside of Clemson's campus, there is very little to do. There are few recreational activities and the campus is located decently far from the beach as well as the mountains making these typically advertised aspects of the university less than appealing. There are really no cultural events around the campus due to the fact that the student body really lacks a culture. Most of the students are of white ethnicity and a majority is from South Carolina. These students tend to have prejudices from being raised in a southern home and therefore the Clemson population is not very accepting of people who stay from "the norm". The one thing Clemson does choose to focus its attention on is football. The town and most of the state of South Carolina in fact, revolves around the sport. In my opinion, this is not enough to keep the university thriving. Students and alumni should be focusing more on academic aspects of the university and less on the rank of the football team. Coming from the north, I expected Clemson to fit the southern mold I had dreamed about for so long. It turns out, the lifestyle is much different and I did not enjoy it as much as I anticipated. I will be transferring out next semester.” CN “If you don't drink, you are not accepted. Period. If you don't drink and then on top of that don't smoke, the outcasts that don't drink but smoke will not accept you. If you don't drink, there is literally nothing else to do and you will have absolutely no fun and no friends.” CN “Since I have started attending Clemson there has been an abundance of alcohol-related deaths. It has been a severe problem and one that I try to avoid. But I'm as one knows it's just part of the college life. The police have started handing out more MIPs (minor in possession) but that doesn't help much. It's simply an expensive slap on the wrist.” CN I consider this college to be a: Worth a campus visit? : _X__REACH ___ TARGET ___ YES Level of interest: ___ High ___ Medium ___ Low If “low” or “no longer interested” – what is the main reason? Students don’t seem to apply themselves at academics. 7226 Jardiniere Court Charlotte, NC 28226 ___ SAFETY _X__ NO _X__No longer interested lee@collegeadmissionsstrategies.com 704-907-5685 www.collegeadmissionsstrategies.com It seems like professors teach to make sure the students have a high GPA, not for the students to understand the information. The campus is too big Sports seem to be the focus of the University, not academics Not much to do off the campus. Does not seem like there is much safety when it comes to students using drugs or alcohol 7226 Jardiniere Court Charlotte, NC 28226 lee@collegeadmissionsstrategies.com 704-907-5685 www.collegeadmissionsstrategies.com
