Nutrition Services Director
Reports To:

JOB GOAL: To successfully run the District’s Food Services Program including serving 1600 meals per
day in four schools with a focus on providing appealing, healthy, nutritious meals for students, staff and
other district events. While providing exemplary service, performance should be based on school district
policies and procedures, and Oregon School Nutrition Program guidelines while remaining in compliance
with all federal and state regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Prefer Nutrition Services Director experience.
2. Three to five years of experience in the food service industry, or the equivalent education,
including supervision or management of multiple employees.
3. Knowledge of school nutrition requirements including Healthy Hunger Free Act of 2010.
4. Maintain Nutrition Certifications as required by Federal and State Regulations
5. Maintain current Food Handlers card, First Aid/CPR card, and Oregon Driver’s License
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans and analyzes menus for all schools in the district to ensure USDA Meal Pattern, student
dietary needs and nutritional requirements are met.
2. Maintains an efficient food service operation and a highly quality food service staff by recruiting,
selecting, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating all food service personnel.
3. Maintains a purchasing system consistent with USDA and state purchasing guidelines.
4. Enforces federal and state regulations regarding nutritional standards, reports and records.
5. Oversees the administration of the district’s free and reduced price meals program according to
federal regulations.
6. Assists the Business Manager with the preparation, monitoring, and implementation of the food
services budget. Monitors and analyzes all revenue sources. Reviews and authorizes all program
expenditures. Maintains all records for required audits and reviews.
7. Assesses customer preference, industry trends and current research to develop a long range plan
that facilitates continuous program improvement.
8. Coordinates all equipment maintenance and building repairs with the appropriate school district
personnel or private service providers.
9. Ensures that established guidelines for sanitation and safety standards are met including assuring
that food service employee’s Food Handler certifications are continuously current.
10. Distributes menu and nutritional information to students, parents and staff and promotes the
nutrition services program.
11. Demonstrates support for and serves on various district wide committees including the District’s
Wellness Plan as mandated by state law.
12. Establishes and maintains a positive, respectful learning environment and working relationship
with students, staff, administration, parents/guardians, school board and community members.
13. Completes annual application and implements processes for National School Lunch Program,
Breakfast Program, Summer Meals Program, Snack Program, Farm to School Program and other
Child Nutrition Programs.
14. Coordinates catering for school meetings, sports banquets and other events per district request.

15. Maintains required paperwork, completing these documents within legal time requirements.
16. Communicates clearly and effectively in a variety of situations with parents, school district staff,
community and/or state agencies members, and the public.
17. Follow North Marion School District procedures, especially as outlined in the Staff Handbook
and assist support staff to do the same.
18. Adhere to professional ethics as identified by the school district, professional organizations, and
licensing commissions.
19. Pursue on-going professional growth and opportunities to maintain and improve skillset.
20. Other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of
those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
1. This position is primarily performed indoors in school buildings, but will require occasional
outdoor work or supervision.
2. This position requires traveling between multiple work sites.
3. Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student or employee injury or illness.
4. May require walking and standing for extended periods.
5. Evenings and/or extended work hours are often required.
6. May be required to lift up to 35 pounds on occasion.
7. May be required to push or pull up to 75 pounds on rolling racks or carts.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 220 day contract year, with salary placement based on experience
according to current schedule.
EVALUATION: Following the probationary period, performance of this job will be evaluated in
accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
