The Chairman noted that this has been only lightly attended by the VSEA in past years. The Chapter Vice President pointed out that last year the Central Vermont Chapter of the VSEA was the only union organization participating or represented. Ms. Louisa Tripp mentioned the “Winter Wonderland” theme of the parade and there was discussion of a C-VSEA float. Discussion concluded without a motion, and the Chairman noted the appointment of Paul Flint to the Labor Day Committee. Employee Appreciation Day (EAD) The goal of the Employee Appreciation Day (EAD) is to increase VSEA and Chapter membership. The Central Vermont chapter has sponsored these for the last several years during the summer on the state house lawn and recently at Natl. Life. About 75-100 people participate in this event. AJ suggested that this year in addition to ice cream as done in year past, we incorporate into the EAD event tickets to the Mountaineers games held in Montpelier. Bonnie Kynoch suggested that the VSEA pint glasses that the Chapter has given out in the past seem like successful keepsakes to give away at the EAD. Arthur Hamlin suggested that we should also consider covering the National Life building as part of this event. After some further discussion, this was subsequently expressed as the following motion. Motion: Employee Appreciation Day shall be conducted at both the State House and National Life sites. Moved: Ms. Bonnie Kynoch Seconded: Ms. Sheila Lapoint Disposition: Approved by show of hands After further discussion, and some friendly amendments a motion was made to not include the tickets and include a specific not to exceed cost. Motion: Moved: Seconded: Disposition: EAD setups shall include Ice Cream, Glasses, Tee-Shirts and shall not to exceed cost of $1000.00 for both events. Life would surely be repeated in the AOE move to Barre. The results of the AOE survey were also presented at this meeting. Adm. officials were presented with a list of items that needed attention at Natl. Life. Obuchowski charged the project managers involved to determine who would be responsible for making these changes and to add to their “punch list” items in their purview that were from this list. Bonnie Boyce indicated that based upon her experience with the Montpelier parking issue that Arthur Hamlin press management representatives to respond as soon as possible. Flint pointed out that a standard management tactic at this point would be to “bury” this report and take no action. Another meeting with administration will be held to discuss health and safety issues in the AOE Barre move. The Chairman suggested that Labor/Management committees be instituted. Call to Adjourn Adjourned at 1:00pm. Minutes recorded by Central Vermont Chapter Vice President and acting recording Secretary, Paul Flint Edited and respectfully submitted by Suzanne Arrand
