Nick Knight
Nick Knight was born in London in 1958. He studied at Bournemouth and Poole college of Art and
Design. Nick Knight mainly does Fashion Photography and Film Documentary photography. His
first book of photographs skinheads was published in 1982. Nick was also the director of
showstudio.com. He has previously won awards for his editorial work in Vogue magazine, Dazed
and confused, I-D magazine and many more. Nick Knight has shot for advertising campaigns for
Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Christian
Dior and Jill Sander. His work has been exhibited in several museums and galleries, such as; V&A
museum, Natural History museum, Hayward Gallery, Saatchi Gallery etc. Knight has also shot
album covers for Cheryl Cole, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue and Gwen Stefani.
Nick Knight has a reputation of ‘’pushing boundaries technically and creatively at every

Whilst Nick Knight was still at school he had always wanted to be a doctor until when he got to
college he had dropped out as he had lost interest in sciences and began studying Photography.
Knight has a myth that ‘’the camera never lies’’. He also said ‘’I tend to want to look up at people

Rankin
Rankin is an English portrait and Fashion Photographer; he was born in 1966 in Paisley and studied
at the London College of Communication, university of Brighton and Barnfield College
(www.wikipedia.com/rankin). He had started his career by founding and publishing the Dazed &
Confused magazine in 1992. Rankin had also done advertising campaigns as well as landmark
editorials. His work features some of the main brands and charities such as; Dove, Nike, Swatch,
Diageo, Pantene, Breakthrough breast cancer and Women’s aid. Rankin has also shot many covers
for; Harpers Bazaar, Elle, German Vogue, GQ, Esquire, Rolling Stone and Wonderland.
The style of Rankin’s work is to question the social norms and ideas of beauty. Rankin has published
over 30 books and his work is exhibited in many galleries around the world, he also has his own
gallery in London. In 2011 Rankin started film production, directing music videos, commercials and
short films.

Mikael Jansson
Mikael Jansson was born in 1965 and is a Fashion Photographer and Director; he is currently based
in New York. Mikael Jansson has travelled to many places around the world on assignment for
magazines such as, Vogue, Vogue Paris, W magazine and Vogue Nippon. Mikael also shoots covers
for designers, actors and musicians. He also contributes in campaigns for Armani cosmetics, Christian
Dior, H&M, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and Salvatore Ferragamo.
Jansson has several books such as; Mikael Jansson published by Beaufort press, Speed of Life, Iggy
Pop and Le Boucher.
Jansson has also been exhibited in many galleries and museums worldwide such as; Chic Clicks:

Annie Leibovitz
Annie is an American portrait photographer she was born in 1949. She studied at the San Francisco
Art Institute. (www.wikipedia.com). Between 1970 and 1983 Annie was the main photographer for
Rolling Stone magazine. She had done many types of photography such as; movement of music
photography, studio portraiture and intimate behind the scenes portrayals of musicians.
The most recent book of Annie is Annie Leibovitz: A photographer’s life 1990 to 2005, it brings her
personal work and assignments together, also she has opened an exhibition at Brooklyn Museum
and it is touring internationally. Annie has been merited a place in the American Masters
documentary series in January 2007.
