Due to Fire Marshall Rules, with the exception of the Studio theatre, the maximum people permitted in any classroom (ie performers and audience combined) may not exceed 49. Any scenic items brought in for workshops must be inspected for safety by a technical supervisor to be appointed by the Department Technical Director, Paul Brunner. 3. Scenic items and props may only be stored in designated facilities as approved by the Production Manager. 4. Items may not be attached to the walls or curtains in any manner. 5. Items may not be suspended from the ceiling or battens in any manner. 6. No screws or nails may be placed in the floors. 7. No fire, smoking, or firing of blanks is allowed in any venue. 8. Only electrician’s tape may be used on the floors to outline areas. Masking tape is not acceptable. Any tape on the floors must be removed after the last performance. 9. There can be no recording of any published material. Recording of any type of a new work must have the written consent of the playwright. 10. There can be no advertising of these projects outside the Department of Theatre and Drama. 11. Approved independent workshops will receive a budget of $150 for the purchase of scripts and other production related items. Production Manager Tayneshia Jefferson has the form for you to submit receipts for reimbursement of expenses. 12. All scripts must be purchased, not photocopied. 13. Nudity in productions, if not explicit in the script, must have the support and approval of your sponsor and the department chair prior to casting the show. 14. Use of departmental classroom sound equipment for your production requires consent of the Production Manager 15. Lights in the Studio Theatre are not to be touched without permission of the Department Lighting Manager, David Krueger. Immediately report any lamp failures to the Studio Theatre Manager, Lee Cromwell. 16. If you have an approved Stage manager, Lighting Designer and Console Operator, the console and related technology in the Studio Theatre is available through the Lighting Manager. It is the responsibility of the Console Operator to properly store this equipment when not in use. No food or beverages are permitted on the catwalk or grid levels. Revised Thursday, September 08, 2011 Access to the catwalks and grid in the Studio Theatre is not permitted without the prior approval of the Studio Theatre Manager. All fire exits must remain unobstructed. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in the cancellation of your workshop. No funding for projects will be provided unless the Studio theatre is used according to the outlined rules and ths space has been struck and thoroughly cleaned.
