PORTFOLIO 3 FOR B1 Q:Skills for Success 3: Listening and Speaking Real Reading 2 : Reading 27th December 2013 PART I: LISTENING Students are expected to listen to the audio file that is given to them one week before the portfolio session several times and to come to the portfolio class ready to answer the questions about the relevant listening topic. The first part of the portfolio is a while-listening activity. First, students are given the question sheets. After reading the questions, students listen to the audio file only once as a whole class and answer the questions while listening. Note: You will be asked six multiple-choice questions and you are required to answer them during the portfolio session. Listening Task: You will hear a man called Martin Carter talking on the radio about a trip he is going to make in a balloon. Please focus on the following questions while listening at home: 1. Why is Martin planning to fly around the world in winter? 2. What are the difficulties of a long flight according to Martin? 3. Why does Martin desire this trip? PART II: VOCABULARY Make your own sentences with each one of the following words in the box and write English definitions of each word on your PORTFOLIO NOTEBOOK. (Bring your portfolio notebook with you for portfolio sessions) Your Portfolio teacher will check your portfolio notebook, choose 5 words at random and ask you to make a sentence about them.
