Lakin explained where the district was in regards to the goals listed in out LCAP pointing out which goals we still need to work towards. He suggested the board incorporate the LCAP goals with the district goals and asked if there were any areas the board would specifically like to include such as facilities or parental involvement, or support of the staff in the implementation of Common Core. He asked the board to review the data and add any areas they felt necessary to look at next board meeting. 10.2 Review and Discuss District School Board Workshop Dec. 11 There was discussion regarding a meeting place. Should it be off campus to not interfere with student access to the library. The Town Hall was suggested as a possible site. Emil Feierabend expressed concern over the expense of the workshop. He said he was not in favor of spending kids' money and would not attend. President Koch pointed out it was an investment in us (the board). Supt. Lakin said he would contact CSBA and look into other options. Member Feierabend was asked if the workshop was free, would he attend and he replied that he would have to think about it. 10.3 Review and Discuss BP/AR 4111 Recruitment and Selection Concern was expressed for the current 30 day advertisement being too long in the current job market. Supt. Lakin has checked with other districts and no one has an "AR" stipulating the length of advertisement. It was felt that it should be left to the administration to tailor to the needs of the situation. The district may potentially need to ask FUTA to advertise 10 days concurrently with "in house". The board felt that with technology, we should be able to cut the advertisement time down. Supt. Lakin also pointed out that the current wording in incorrect and needs to be changed to read that the action is taken in closed session and reported out in open session with a vote summary. This is to be brought back next meeting with corrections.
