Dear Parents
Year 2 led assembly this morning and told us the story of the Gruffalo; I watched them practising
and they were really shaping up as the week went on. The Gruffalo is a well-loved story and the
infants have also created two fab displays for the Infant library. Well done Class 2 your hard work
paid off; you were wonderful. Y1 will lead the next assembly on the 17th October.
Welcome to School
Thanks to all the families in Reception Class who made our tea party such a success on Wednesday.
The highlight of the evening for me was listening to the children singing with such gusto; they really
raised the roof in church. All that time making sandwiches was worth it, we all had a lovely time.
St Teresa's Feast Day
We celebrated our patron saint, Saint Teresa’s, feast day on Wednesday by attending mass with the
parish. Father Manock's sermon was about us all being special because we belong to God. He asked
the children to draw up an SDP – a Saint Development Plan – to enable them to work towards being
more saintly. If I drew up a SDP it would be very, very thick, I'm so many steps away from being a
saint. Although I'm sure even a saint's patience would be tried working in a school.
Chaplains
Our new chaplains performed their first public role on Wednesday as they organised the juice and
biscuits to celebrate St Teresa's day and helped out at the Tea Party. They were super ambassadors
for our school and a great help. Well done.
Cross Country
We had mixed success on Tuesday evening at the Cross Country meeting at Moss Bank Park. Luca
came in 14th place and we were then in a string of much lower places than last week. Mrs. Corry
reported that two of our younger runners ran around the course holding hands – I don't think that
must have helped but it's definitely in the spirit of our school! Next week they're at Bolton School.
Football
Well done to our football team who drew 3-3 against Mytham School last night. They play Masefield
away next Thursday.
The Return of Willow
As a leaving present to school the marvellous Mr. Ball arranged for the willow artist, Geoff, to return
to school to reinstate Willow, the deer that used to stand on our front lawn. I'm hoping he will be
able to create a new Twig for us too; Twig was the baby deer. The children will all be able to spend
some time working with Geoff to build the framework and weave in the willow. A big thank you to Mr
Ball – what a lovely way to be remembered!

Shoebox Appeal
Yes, it's almost that time of year again! We are taking part in the Shoebox Appeal again and I'm just
giving those who enjoy filling a shoebox with goodies a heads up. They'll be collected from school
sometime after half term. I'm already gathering things together to put in mine. The children
overseas are always delighted to receive them and our children are always thrilled and proud to send
off so many. There'll be more information sent out nearer the time.
Thank You
Thank you to all those who have volunteered; we now have quite an army of people prepared to give up
their time to support our lovely children and the feedback they give us is always about how much they
enjoy working in school. We appreciate the help you give us, you really do make a difference.
Thank you to all those who completed our questionnaire at the end of the Summer Term. I am
compiling the responses and will be sending out the results soon. The vast majority of responses
were extremely positive and we will take note of any suggestions.
A very big thank you to Mrs. Brooks who has faced the auditors this week as they gave our school
finances a very rigorous going over. We passed with flying colours and congratulations to Mrs. Brooks
are definitely in order.

Finally, one of our young men was complaining that he was tired and hadn't been able to get out of
bed. 'I'm not', said another. 'I'm fully charged.' What a bright spark, sounds like he should be given
a 'battery' of tests to prove his point.
Yours sincerely
