13 December, 2015 – ADVENT 3
Today is the Third Sunday of Advent – sometimes known as ‘Gaudete’ Sunday, a Latin
word for JOY. On this day the candle we light in our Advent Wreath is pink, as we change
direction from contemplation to anticipation of the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Aged Care Services resume with Broughton Hall on 27 January, others in February.
We are hoping that we will have a group of people who will make a joyful noise unto the Lord at our Aged Care
Services. Please join us as we bring the joy of Christmas to those who can’t get to a Service. Car parking is difficult,
so share a ride with a friend, or enjoy a nice walk! Let us know if you are planning to come so that we can arrange
seating. Enquiries: Anne
Is your Bible gathering dust like this one?
“NEW DAYLIGHT” – if you would like the next of these easy-to-follow daily Bible Readings, or if you
would like to start the new year with a resolution to begin to read the Bible daily, please order your
copy from Jenni McKenzie by 16 December so that they can be available from 20 December. The
cost will be around $13 for 4 months (great value when a newspaper is around $2 per day!).
Now we have your attention!
ROSTERS (1) – We have a wonderful team of people involved in many, many
areas of ministry here at St Dunstan’s, but due to illness and frailty of some,
we need new offers of assistance.
In the maintenance area, we need people willing to vacuum, sweep, dust and
clean occasionally.
In the weekly running of Church Services, we need people to offer to read the Scriptures, write or read
intercessions, be official welcomers/sidespeople, and be lay assistants to help the Clergy in the Sanctuary.
It’s been encouraging to see the Sunday School children helping as Acolytes during the last few months;
they are willing to help – are you?
Please don’t hesitate to ask Trevor or Anne if you feel you can help in one or more of these ministries. We
can talk to you about it, offer training as required, and will support you in your work.
To indicate your interest, fill out and hand the attached sheet to Trevor or Anne.
ROSTERS (2)
Please see a sheet on the Welcoming Table regarding January Services. Please write your name down
for tasks when you are available – this might be a good time to try something new, or test something you
feel God is nudging you to do.
A very big thank you to David and Trudy for their wonderful hospitality at our Christmas Drinks ‘n
Nibbles evening. A great crowd enjoyed the evening, with lots of congratulations shared around for several
upcoming events. May all our Christmas celebrations be as happy!
PRAYERS ON OUR HEARTS AND MINDS:
Prayer at the time of choosing an incumbent (APBA p.212)
Bountiful God, give to this parish a faithful pastor who will faithfully speak your word and minister your
sacraments; an encourager who will equip your people for ministry and enable us to fulfil our calling. Give
to those who will choose, wisdom, discernment and patience, and to us give warm and generous hearts, for
Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
From our Prayer List: Pheobe; Peter and Jeffrey; Jo and Darren, Lisa and Geoff, Lois, Anna, Fiona,
Antony, Samuel and family; Andrew, Hilary, Anne, Asher, Barbara, Geraldine & Mervyn, Sandie, Margo,
Ian, Thelma, Jane, Norma.
Prayer of the Week: Almighty God, you have made us and all things to serve you: come quickly to save
us, so that wars and violence shall end and your children may live in peace, honouring one another with
justice and love; through Jesus Christ, your Son our Lord, who lives with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
