Dear Parents,
Thank you to all of our wonderful families for showing how much they appreciate our teachers. They were
spoiled this week with lots of food, yummy treats, and fantastic gifts. Everyone's generosity is truly
appreciated. We do have the BEST teachers here at Prince William Academy!
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our wonderful mothers and to our families. Did you know: The First Mother's
Day was proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson on May 9,1914. Mother's Day is now celebrated
around the world in countries such as England, France, Brazil, Japan, India, China, Egypt, Mexico and
many more.
We celebrate Mother’s Day here at Prince William Academy because it is a bright star in the overall
celebration of Women, Women’s Rights and even further, Human Rights for all. PWA’s philosophy of
Human rights is reflected in our school culture. Dr. Harris, the founder and Executive Director of Prince
William Academy continues to fight for Woman's Rights and Human Rights nationally and internationally.
It connects us to each other as a shared set of rights and responsibilities and duties towards each other
and the community.
It is our sincere hope that you enjoy your Mother's Day on Sunday. We celebrate our mothers and
grandmothers with the annual Mother’s Day Tea as a testament and reminder of all of the hard work,
sweat and tears moms give every single day and they deserve to be honored because of it.

Chipotle Fundraiser
We have a Chipotle Fundraiser scheduled for Monday, May 18, from 5pm-8pm at 4269 Merchant Plaza,
Woodbridge, VA, in the Safeway shopping center. We will earn 50 percent of all the receipts turned in
during the allotted hours. Make sure to let the cashier know you are from Prince William Academy by
either bringing a copy of the flyer, showing the flyer on your smartphone, or verbally saying you would like
the receipt totals to go to Prince William Academy.
The funds raised will go towards enhancing technology around the school.
Memorial Day
Prince William Academy will be closed for school and childcare on Monday, May 25 in
observance of Memorial Day.
Scholastic Book Fair
Our Spring book fair is scheduled for June 1 - 10. Stop in to purchase books for summer reading!
