POSITION DESCRIPTIONS POSITION TERM: JANUARY TO NOVEMBER, 2016 We are looking for individuals who are passionate self-starters, motivated to do their jobs, and dedicated to success. The executive team is responsible for planning, organizing, and running all of the organization’s initiatives throughout the year. There are up to seventeen (17) positions available on the executive committee. However, executives may often be called upon to work on projects outside their primary scope, so passion for teamwork is a must! The main responsibilities of each position, with number of available spots in parentheses, are described below. Delegates Coordinator (2 Positions) – please specify internal or external for your desired position Core Competencies: interpersonal, approachable, relationship-builder, strong communication skills Internal: Primary point of contact for all Queen’s delegates External: Primary point of contact for all external DECA chapters and secondary point of contact for Queen’s delegates Shared Responsibilities include: Lead Queen’s delegate recruitment Coordinate Queen’s delegate inquiries for additional resources Must be attentive to details and have excellent writing and communication skills *Cannot be on exchange during Fall 2015 Publications Director (1 Position) Core Competencies: creative, leadership, proactive, familiarity with web/graphic design software Provide leadership, experience, and ensure deliverables from Marketing Coordinator and IT/Publications Coordinator Delegate responsibilities to promotion team members Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and WordPress are favored Marketing Coordinator (1 Position) Core Competencies: creative, interpersonal, proactive Work with Delegates/Corporate Relations teams to create promotional recruitment campaigns Regularly update social media pages to attract visitors Work with IT and Publications to create visually appealing distribution material Embrace and develop the DECA brand Experience with graphic design recommended (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) A QUEEN’S COMMERCE SOCIETY MEMBER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS POSITION TERM: JANUARY TO NOVEMBER, 2016 IT and Publications Coordinator (1 Position) Core Competencies: familiarity with website, graphic design software Update and improve the DECA Queen’s website Work with Marketing to create distribution material Ensure the proper performance of technology during promotional campaigns and during the conference weekend Experience with graphic design required (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Cases Coordinator (1-2 Positions) Core Competencies: creative, critical thinker, strong writing skills Develop unique and challenging cases for the competition according to DECA’s requirements Recruit professors, industry professionals, or other professional contacts to co-write cases Recruit and train professional individuals (e.g. MBA students, industry reps, professors) to judge competitions Sponsorship Director (1 Position) Core Competencies: leadership, interpersonal, initiative Oversee Sponsorship and Speakers positions Provide guidance in securing sponsors and speakers for the Internal Competition and Invitational Conference Previous experience with sponsorship/speakers is a recommended asset Sponsorship Coordinator (3 Positions) Core Competencies: proactive, interpersonal, persistent Work with Speakers and Marketing to initiate and develop corporate relations with new companies Secure monetary and product sponsorship for the committee’s events Act as a liaison throughout the conference to ensure corporate partners are satisfied Ensure continued positive relationships with past and existing sponsors Secure business professionals for networking sessions/judges A QUEEN’S COMMERCE SOCIETY MEMBER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS POSITION TERM: JANUARY TO NOVEMBER, 2016 Speakers Coordinator (2 Positions) Core Competencies: proactive, interpersonal, persistent Work with Sponsorship and Marketing to initiate and develop corporate relations with new companies Secure business professionals for keynote and workshop spaces at conference and other events Act as a liaison throughout the conference to ensure speakers are satisfied Logistics Coordinator (2 Positions) Core Competencies: time management, attention to detail, strong communication skills Organize the venues, suppliers and event details Create a minute-by-minute schedule of events Ensure that all transportation, food, entertainment, etc. requirements are met Negotiate with suppliers to obtain best possible contracts Create weekly meeting minutes *Cannot be on exchange during Fall 2015 Events Coordinator (1 Position) Core Competencies: creative, social, strong communication skills Organize social events for the conference and for the executive committee Coordinate the charity case challenge for the conference Plan 2-3 workshops for Queen’s delegates throughout the year Finance Coordinator (1 Position) Core Competencies: attention to detail, responsible, basic accounting knowledge Create and maintain up-to-date budgets Publish end-of-conference financial statements and annual report Manage all financial transactions and reimbursements Work closely with all functional teams to ensure financial sustainability A QUEEN’S COMMERCE SOCIETY MEMBER
