INTERNATIONAL STARS COMING TO HERNING 2011
Danish Warmblood’s National Stallion Show 10-13 March in Herning
In recent years Danish Warmblood horses have achieved outstanding results worldwide.
Among the remarkable achievements are two world championship titles for young dressage
horses in Verden in 2009 and 2010. At the WEG 2010 in Kentucky Danish Warmblod was
represented by eight dressage horses of which “Mistral Højris” won triple silver under British
Laura Bechtolsheimer. Canadian jumping rider John Pearce came 12th individually and 5th in
the team test with his Danish Warmblood “Chianto”.
The National Stallion Show in Herning is a unique opportunity to discover some of the best
Danish young horses. In addition to the licensing of young colts and mature stallions you will
find the Danish Young Horse Championships in dressage and jumping as well as dressage and
jumping classes up to Grand Prix level and, of course, the Danish Warmblood Spring Auction.
An exciting programme
The National Stallion Show in Herning is probably the biggest of its kind, and has attracted
approximately 53,000 visitors every year during the last four years. These are some of the
programme highlights which thousands of people do not want to miss out on:






Stallion licensing. About 100 stallions will take part in the licensing as well as many
approved stallions will compete in dressage and jumping up to the highest level.
Young Horse Championship. National final for the best Danish five-year-old dressage
and jumping horses.
Spring Auction. Three-year-old colts, licensed as well as non-licensed, and qualified
young riding horses on auction.
Clinic on Thursday evening.
Gala Show on Friday and Saturday evening.
The Horse & Rider trade show and tack fair.
World class dressage clinic
The number one on the FEI world ranking in dressage, Dutchman Edward Gal, has been
untouchable month after month on his incredible mount “Totilas”. After the sale of “Totilas”
Edward Gal has succeeded “the mission impossible” by bringing his second horse “Sisther de
Jeu” up the ranking in a matter of weeks.
Edward Gal and his business partner Nicole Werner have developed their own training concept
which has enabled Edward to stand out as one of the most successful riders in the world. In
Herning Edward will be sharing this concept with all the spectators Thursday night where he
will be riding one of his own horses and will also be teaching talented Danish riders on their
Danish Warmblood horses. These combinations are:
 Lotte Skjærbæk and the 7-year-old stallion “Skovens Rafael” who is a former auction
foal, premium stallion, Spring Auction price highlight, 4-year-old Dressage Champion
and a double finalist at the World Championship for young horses in Verden.
 Maria Anita Andersen and the 5-year-old gelding “Klepgab’s Don Nido” who is a former
premium stallion and Spring Auction price highlight
 John Hvalsøe Saul with the 4-year-old mare “Sirikit” who became “Dressage Mare of
the Year” at the 2010 Elite Show after having achieved the highest score of the year in
the riding test.
Young Horse Championship of international calibre
The Young Horse Championship has been part of the Danish stallion licensing ever since the
first National Stallion Show in Herning in 1980. It is the first outing for the 5-year-olds of
which many are hopeful contestants for the World Championships in Verden and Zangersheide.
Herning will be their first performance in front of a huge international crowd as it was for world
champions like ”Hønnerups Driver” and ”Uno Donna Unique”. One of the contestants this year
will be the Dressage Mare of the Year 2009 ” Fabrix Miss Ésandri” ridden by the former Danish
team rider Fie Skarsø who is now based in Luxemburg.
As a test rider of the dressage horses Danish Warmblood look forward to welcoming the
renowned rider and trainer Jan Brink who will definitely contribute to raising the standards at
the Young Horse Championship. The 49-year-old Swede has many years of experience in
training young horses up to international Grand Prix level, and he knows a talented young
dressage horse when he sees one. He was a three times Olympian and eight times Swedish
champion by the time he retired from the international show scene in 2009 after twenty years
as a national team rider.
