Class 2 Homework Information Spring Term 2014 Dear Parents, We would like to begin by thanking you for helping your child to make such a huge effort with last term’s homework. The children were enthusiastic and always keen to share their excellent work and we really appreciate the time and effort that was clearly taken. So now we are starting a new term with a new topic, here are the homework tasks for your child to complete over the spring term. As requested last term, we would like your child to complete one piece of homework each week, choosing the task from a different category each time. This is to ensure that your child has the opportunity to practise different skills each week. When appropriate the homework will need to be recorded in your child’s homework book, which was sent home before the Christmas holiday and should be handed in every Wednesday to be checked and returned the Friday of the same week. Spellings will continue to be set weekly. New spellings will be given out on a Monday and the children will be tested the following Monday, allowing the children extra time to practise. At this point we would like to take the opportunity to give a reminder that it is very important for the children to make sure that their spelling sheets are in school on a Monday, so that we can communicate their achievements to you on a weekly basis. We would also like to reiterate the importance of reading with and listening to your child read on a daily basis, if possible. As previously, you can change your child’s home reading book at any time as long as it matches the reading level your child is working at. When your child has reached the next stage you will be informed of this in the reading log. The Year 2 children will also continue to bring home weekly number bonds to practise, along with the x2, x5 and x10 tables, as they are now working on these in class. If there are any questions about any of the tasks or other pieces of homework, please feel free to make an appointment to see me. Thank you. Mrs. Haslam Topic: The Heat is On!
