Florida Hospital Waterman Education Department proudly presents The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider Course Wednesday, May 15, 2013 (B/D-shift) Garden Conference Rooms: AB from 8:00 am – 11:30 am This course has been designed to teach an evidence-based approach to resuscitation of the newborn. The causes, prevention, and management of mild to severe neonatal asphyxia are carefully explained so that health professionals may develop optimal knowledge and skill in resuscitation. Steps to complete and take program: 1. To register contact Captain Mike Hilliard as class size is limited to four (4) attendees. A loaner textbook will be provided for you to study; after reviewing the key information each participant must then take the online examination. 2. Click on http://www2.aap.org/nrp/ to begin the examination process when you are prepared and ready. a. Click on NRP Online Examination b. Click on 6th Edition Online Examination 3. You will enter a series of steps that require you to register for the online content; please note there is a fee of $23.50 that you personally must pay to take this program. There is no associated fee from FH/Waterman or Lake EMS. a. Per the AAP and the AHA, the test cannot be completed over 30-days prior to the course. Your test must be completed on or after April 17, 2013. 4. Upon successful completion of the online written test, attend the NRP class bringing your certificate of completion and textbook to the program. 5. At the class conclusion, return your textbook to Captain Hilliard otherwise a reimbursement fee will be assessed. NRP provides the learner with the following objectives: 1. Information needed to recognize neonates at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest 2. Information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in neonates 3. The cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize neonates in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest 6.0-CEUs in OB/Pediatrics are awarded for successful course completion. The program is FREE to Lake EMS employees but, limited to 4 participants per class.
