You have been transported in time to the year 1333 B.C. You are at the lowest level in society: a servant or a slave! You will shake a die to see which person you are! Your mission is to work your way to becoming a pharaoh by completing the following tasks! Each time you complete a mission, you move up to the next level in Ancient Egyptian Society known as the social pyramid. You will need to use several resources, including books, encyclopedias, articles, and the internet. Good luck, and May the pyramid force be with you! Mission 1: Where in the World is Egypt? Use maps and globes to locate Egypt. You must be able to answer the question “Where in the World is Egypt?” by pointing it out on the classroom map and creating two maps of your own. The first is a map of the world with the continent and country of Egypt highlighted. The second map is a map of Egypt with the following places shown: 1. the Nile River 2. Mediterranean Sea 3. Valley of Kings 4. Giza 5. Memphis 6. Red Sea 7. Gulf of Suez 8. Upper and Lower Egypt (Be careful with this one…) 9. add more as you learn to create a detailed map Take the time to add to your map throughout our Egypt Study. These maps must be neatly maintained at all times or re-done onto a “good copy”. Choose two of each to illustrate and write about on an index card. Mysteries of Ancient Egypt Mission 6: Secrets of the Mummy’s Tomb You are now at the level of Noblemen and Priests. You are one step below the Pharaoh in the social pyramid. To become a nobleman or a priest is going to take much perseverance…are you up for the challenge? You can do it; you are almost there! Shake the die to see which one you will become. As a nobleman, you will be doing three activities. Do these carefully so that you don’t become a mummy in the mummy’s tomb! Research the duties of a nobleman. Write the gist in your journal. Prepare questions to play a review game with your classmates. ____ Research the architecture of Ancient Egypt. Read the articles ‘Architecture Fast Facts’ and ‘About Architecture’. This will help prepare you to make at least one of the following: Design and make a pyramid using materials of your choice. ____ Design and make an obelisk. ____ Create a diorama of an Egyptian home. ____ Make a triorama of the inside of The Great Pyramid at Giza. ____ Make a Power Point presentation on the Seven Wonders of Ancient Egypt. ______ As a priest, you will be doing three activities. Do these carefully so that you are not stuck in a pyramid with a mummy for all of eternity! Research the duties of a priest.
