Outreach SNAPSHOT STATUS SHEET November 2011 Oncology Working Group Commission on Cancer: Eric Rohren is our new liaison. SNM Leadership will be meeting with CoC later this month at RSNA to discuss further future collaboration. SNM will be conducting a survey of CoC members later this year. ASTRO: Ambassador is Robert Atcher. We have proposed 2 sessions for the 2012 meeting: 1) Investigational PET Agents and Their Biologic Targets; and 2) Reimbursement of PET/CT. Staff is meeting with ASTRO staff later in November. ASCO: Ambassador is Andrei Iagaru. We proposed a joint session for 2012 on Criteria for Response Assessment and Timing of the Scans. Staff is also working with ASCO staff on other projects, such as additional collaborations on other, focused ASCO meetings and conducting a survey of ASCO members. Neurology Working Group AAN: Ambassador is Norman Foster. AAN left one spot open in their 2012 program for a Hot Topic and have suggested that we submit our proposal on amyloid PET imaging for consideration. Lewy Body Dementia Association: They are interested in co-sponsoring meeting with us and the American Academy of Family Physicians. American Academy of Family Physicians. SNM has reached out to partner with this group and will likely begin work on a project with the Lewy Body Dementia Association. National Parkinson’s Foundation: They would like us to write an 800-word article on cuttingedge molecular imaging and Parkinson’s that they can add to their resources for physicians. RSNA: We are working on a proposal for amyloid and DATscan sessions. Cardiovascular Working Group American College of Cardiology: Ambassador is Prem Soman. He is reaching out to ACC to determine where SNM can provide expertise in the form of a session proposal for 2012. American Heart Association: Ambassador is Marcelo DiCarli; members will be attending the scientific sessions in November and will approach AHA program officials with 5 separate session proposals for 2012. ASNC: Is planning 4 regional sessions for community/grassroots outreach and is interested in having SNM join this effort. Staff will be meeting with ASNC staff later in November. Patient Advocacy Advisory Board (PAAB) New patient Web site (www.discoverMI.org) has launched and has a Facebook page (41 followers) and Twitter (5 followers) handle to complement it. We are trying to prepare patient/consumer-oriented webinars on breast cancer, prostate cancer, lymphoma/RIT, thyroid cancer, molecular imaging of the heart and brain imaging. We have a new PAAB member: Gary Bloom from the Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association. Cardiovascular Molecular Imaging (CVMI) Symposium at NIH AMI and RSNA both contributed $5,000 Bioscan is contributing $10,000 Several other societies will be providing in-kind support in the form of marketing. 2|Page
